Cigracer, your friend with the 42MTI better call someone and get some help on his boat.

The twin 575SCi BMAX boat I spoke of runs 107 with a half tank of fuel and 2 people.

The previous 42MTI had #6 drysumps and Sterling 1000's. It ran 138 with a light fuel load.

Both of these boats had full cabin (porta potty, though, not vacu flush).

Your friend's boat should be much faster than you speak of.

And speed or luxury is true. My 18' TunnelVee runs 110 with 280 horses. A 30 Spectre will run 140 with twin 850's. Neither of these 2 boats can run wide open in the same water that a 42 MTI can run in.

It's all relative.

Yeah, we all know that. He has spent over $20,000 trying to get it right, but to no avail. They said it was good for 137. No way. He hasn't seen 115. It's been back to Scism twice. It should obviously be a ****load faster, but it's not. The worst part is, it's not ever gonna be. They (Scism) are out of options.

Skater makes a 36 with side by side seating and a small cabin. On the Prowl is a 36 skater with this type of configuration. I have also seen a spectre with a similar configuration. Most custom manufacturers will build you pretty much what ever you want. Thats why there is more than one boat model!

All of the boats mentioned are nice.
36 Eliminator, 36 Nortech, Scism's, Skater. I would NOT touch an Awesome or American Offshore. Slow and low quality.
Nortech is very nice and priced competitively. The cabin entrances are very tight, good for only smaller people.
Eliminator has just as large or larger cabin with a regular sized cabin door. 525's pushes the boat to a legitamate 108mph. This is exactly what the Nortech will do. The center pod does not hurt top speed but by 2 mph, but has great advantages for planning and lower speed cruising and maneuvering.
Scisms are in a whole other price range! They are no faster.....I heard one comment...575's, #6's only 105mph...that's ok, but is NO better then these two cats...a LOT less money!
I think if you look at the Eliminator and Nortech, there styling is VERY different.....only you will be able to decide which one appeals to you.

By the way, the last 36 Eliminator with #6's and 900SC's ran 150mph, that betters that MTI with 1000's...do the math...and I will bet less money no doubt! SCISMs are nice, just pointing out that they are NO better speed wise, its just hype.

You are comparing a 36 ft boat to a 42 ft boat with full cabin and head. Lets compare apples to apples. I beleive the new 39 MTI ran 120 with stock 500's. I would put that up against any 36 Eliminator.

You are right they are not really apples to apples, a 36 Eliminator to a 42 MTI....BUT..SCISM's claim of 120 with 500's is a joke....funny how it has never been seen? That would be better then any kilo record set by a Super Cat Light team? I doubt it! You know what they...don't beleive everything you hear.

MTI's are very nice boats...but a 120 in a 39??? Do you think there was a full cabin in that boat too? How much is a 39 MTI with 500's....try around $450K-ish? An Eliminator 36 with 500's...try $325K-ish....what's a better buy/value?

39 Scism/MTI w/750's at the Emerald Coast Poker Run 2003 ran 125mph. It ain't gettin 120 with 500's.

No, the 39 does not have a full cabin. It is a race/pleasure setup. I will stay this, there is no way I would spend $250, much less 325 for an eliminator. Just a personal preference.

Explain why the 36 Eliminator is a good buy at $325.

Lightbulb Eliminator / Real Cats

How can all of you even compare an Eliminator to a Skater, MTI, Spectre, or Nor-Tech. The hole construction and quality of the boat is completely differn't. Go for a ride in a 36 daytona, and then go in a real 36' cat, that will be the truth in the question. As for a cabin, Skater offers the 36' open cockpit, Spectre has the 36' pleasure deck, Nor-Tech has the 3600 super cat, and MTI can give you the 39' PR with a forward cabin. Personaly I would scratch the cabin. We just purchased a 36' Spectre Poker Run Edition, no cabin. It just means alot less area to clean. Theres still tons of storage, I couldn't ever fill it. The amount of money that Eliminator is charging for there boats, you can get alot more bang for your buck looking elsewhere. If you wanted to argue Eliminator Versus DCB, I could see that. The west coast manufacturers still have not figured out how to build a real offshore cat, there all river and lake boats 36' long 8'5" beam, center sponson, whats that all about?

Just my .02 - not trying to offend anyone!!! Sorry If I Have!!!

It comes down to what people want, thats the beauty of having so many differnt products available. Just try to talk to as many people as possiable before blunking down your hard earned money.

I'm glad someone is taking up for us Eliminator guys Mike. I bought my 36 eliminator for the big Cabin and the reasonable price. Its trailerable, and the quality is outstanding. Maybe not everyone has Kids but for me it works good.
