Exclamation Need High-Five info Quick!

I'm currently using a 14 1/4 x 22P 3-blade Turbo prop on my 21' Scarab with a 350 and alpha I. Goes 59 on GPS at 4500 rpms. I know a guy who wants to give me a killer deal on a Mercury High Five 5-blade prop (13 1/4 x 23P). Will this work on my boat? Rpms will go up or down? Speed decrease? Thanks

Imq707s,

It's been ten years since I had my 206 Rinker and many boat so my memory may have faded on this subject. For speed a 22p Turbo, that had been tweaked, was the fastest prop for the boat. I used it for river runs. For water skiing, wake boards etc. there is nothing better than the High 5. Here is where the memory fades. I believe the High 5 was only a 21p that was worked even lower to get the same rpm's as the turbo. I lost a solid two-mph. With the High 5 there was a lot less bow rise and you could pop a skier right on plane.

The only way to know how the prop is going to perform on your boat is to actually try it. Every boat has different tendencies. Don’t buy it till you demo one!

Well I tested out that Mercury High Five 23P prop out on my 21' scarab with a 350 and alpha drive. It lost about 3 MPH on the top end 56 mph at 4800 rpms (59 mph at 4500 rpms with my 3 blade 22P Turbo with extra cup in the blades). But out of the whole the prop is amazing, the boat just hopped out of the hole and took off. The mid range acceleration was awsome also, but I think that half of that was because my 22P turbo prop was a little to much for my motor. It didn't seem to hold the bow as good as my Turbo, and cruising at 3000rpms went from 37 with the turbo , to 34 with the high five. It may not be the best performance prop in the world, but for pulling skiers with a boat load of people, that high five rocks.
