A wire runs from the stud on the sender to the "S" terminal on the gauge.

The sender is grounded when it is screwed in the block. Ground the gauge to the ground bus strip under the dash.

You are good to go.

Bringing this back up to the top. I'm researching different spots to move my oil temp sending unit. I currently have it mounted in the remote oil filter mount, which is the hottest point according to my research. I'm looking to move it. If i'm thinking about this correctly, the oil comes out of the engine pad, outside hole, up to the filter, out the filter, in and out of cooler, then to the inside hole of the pad again. I was told I should switch this so the oil is cooled before going into the filter, then my location would be fine. I'm not sure I want to do that. Any opinions of this? I'm thinking relocating the oil temp sender would be easier than trying to make up new hoses. I don't think the stock hoses would reroute with enough length, but could be wrong here as well.

I would imagine the oil pan is after cooler? Is also the spot where the oil pressure gage is above the engine oil filter pad after cooler?

Thanks guys.
