Default Engine coupler balancing

I was putting together a1990 454 mag with a friend today and we replaced the old engine coupler with the new style coupler.

The old aluminum coupler seems to be balanced while the new style steel ones are not balanced. Anyone know the reason why?

You can have it balanced but I've never known anyone to have a problem with them.

Thanks, I did'nt think they needed to be but it just seemed kind of weird that the old ones were balanced.
