I was browsing through and read the thread.
I have the 'o' port Edelbrock heads on the shelf, collected the rest of the stuff in the 540HP spec as well but missed out the Push rods.
Which push rods would you recommend to using with Edelbrock heads. Is the length going to be that much different?

Re: Edelbrock Marine Heads
Flatlander advertises the Edelbrock heads at a great price, but quotes a 3-4 week arrival delay. On 1/24/05 Stating:
"Im sorry we are out of those heads at this time ,they would have to be put on
our next stocking order which we expect to arrive in 3-4 weeks."
When I asked if they would order them and have them drop shipped to my office, then said they do not do that.
Seems odd to me that they cannot drop ship.. Who is offering the best price on these heads and can get them in a reasonable time? Need three sets.

Re: Edelbrock Marine Heads
CPPerformance, is there an OSO discount available for cam/lifter sets? If so, what is the discount number? I need to buy two 11-240-4.
Sorry for the minor hijacking...

I checked on the Canfields. Got a good price but was also told that the exhaust is raised about 1/2 inch. That might present a problem with my exhaust either hitting the valve cover or not lining up with the back of the boat. Another reason why I was looking at the Edelbrocks is that everything is the same as a stock head.
I again need to tell everyone that I am running blowers so intake efficiency is not as critical as a N/A motor. I just need good exhaust scavenging.

I have a set on my 509 in the 21 and they seem to be good heads. Just looking for more input about blown applications.

Boy! you did dig up an old one. the Edelbrock marine hard anodized cylinder head is a good decent general aftermarket aluminum head well built with good average machining , parts and with average flow numbers for a non-cnc'd head that was designed 15 or so years ago. Pretty much the same head Mercury Racing uses on the HP525efi and it does a decent job with good build quality and reliability.
Remember on a blower BBC its important to have Inconel exhaust valves for the high exhaust gas temperatures under boost.
On a blower motor the overall cylinder head is somewhat less critical than it is on a naturally aspirated engine where you are trying to extract all the power you can from airflow alone and no boost. These heads will do a good job for you and I don't think investing in new more expensive aftermarket heads would be a good investment or move.
"if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
