Bigwavz, I have the flow figures for the Edelbrock 454-R heads. I believe these are the same basic castings as the marine heads. Send me an e-mail or pm if you would like these figures.

I have the 7760 edelbrocks on a 540 that makes 570 Hp and 600 TQ with 8.5 compression. They have some port matching done and that's it.

For what it's worth I called Edelbrock and they stated that on a bone stock 502 MPI that the heads would give you an additional 40 HP at 5000 RPM. Not bad for a bolt on with the good valves. Everything else transfers from your stock cast iron heads such as rockers etc.

I think you'll see that the Iron Eagles from Competition Products with inconel upgrade for ~$1600 will flow substantially better and should generate better heat for power.
Just a thought...

Nordic heat--

You may be right about the flow, but the last thing I want is hotter cylinder temps. You must have not read my earlier posts. I am running blown 502's and I need to have cooler cyl temps. That is why I am going with aluminum, plus they can be easily repaired if damaged.

Sorry, missed that one
That being the case be warned that the decks on the Edelbrocks are not the thickest and you could have heasd gasket issues. I know first hand

Bigwavz,
You'd be better off to get hold of RM builder and get a set of Canfields complete with all the parts ready to go. Thicker decks and killer flow numbers. You will need new head bolts.

Guys--

Unfortunately I have a limited budget I am doing both motors and for 1300.00 a pair I think they are a good deal. I thought the Edelbrocks have thick decks?? I am also going with head studs from ARP If some one knows of a better aluminum head for no more than 1500.00/pair including Inconel valves then I'm a buyer

Thanks

Howdy there, I just bolted on a pair of Edlebrock Oval port Marine heads on my Gen 6 and installed a 502/502 GM cam. I have Crane Gold Roller Rockers ready to go but am having a heck of a time measuring for new pushrods. Does anyone have this configuration and or any ideas on what length they would be. Thanks, TR
