Sorry to have been absent, travelling the venues to make sure they are acceptable to the racing fleet. Just a comment on the three previous posts.
The current situation - see website www.cowestomontecarlo.com is that we are at max capacity on entries with 50 race teams all having paid their deposits with five on reserve and more enquiries every week. Thats with still 20 months to go. Those who have been slow jumping on board will regret it when the race starts! Just a point about the public at events.

That's not where it's at, it's the internet and we learned a serious lesson after the 2008 Round Britain Race, we were told by our web providers - two months after the race - that in the May we had 7 million hits, in the June of the race we had 12 million hits and in the July 5 million hits! Unprecendented and many companies would like to have that level of interest. This was all because we had a tracker system on each boat - a first and that didn't work too well either. If we had known that the race was going to be followed in such volume woldwide then we could have paid for the race easily by charging to view. We have learned the lesson and won't make that mistake again and this time the viewing rate is going to be HUGE as we will be pumping up the marketing of the race. We are already seeing that with the daily hits on our web site right now and nothing much is happening!!

Default The Challenge

It has been quite an eye opener to us over here in Europe that only two American Race teams out of the hundreds that you have over there have decided to test themselves and their boats against the other 12 countries in this the longest and toughest powerboat race in the world.

You would have thought wouldn't you that some of the famous American boat manufacturers like Cigarette etc would have wanted to come and test their flash craft against very serious competition. After all, if they did well the marketing and sales benefits would have been enormous but they haven't seen that, which is a pity, whereas Hunton, Goldfish, Sunseeker and many others will be able to say "Our boats finished the 2,400 mile Cowes to Monte-Carlo". Oh, and by the way, the only engine manufacturer to date - Ilmor - have seen the benefits of supporting this great race. Lets see what happens over the next year and half before race day in June 2013.

See www.cowestomontecarlo.com.

Default Change of name for the Race.

Cowes - Monte-Carlo 2013

The UIM Cowes to Monte-Carlo World Cup 2013 name has been changed to The Venture Cup.

To reflect the changes announced at last Saturday's very successful Race Briefing held in Portsmouth England at which almost 200 members attended, we're now starting the process of a major change to our presence on Facebook. First up, we'll be moving everything across to the page shown below. Please pop in and 'like' it ...and then go and shout about it from a digital rooftop to get your own facebook friends liking it as well. We build this success together folks! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ventu...07810866010523

The Venture Cup will be a series of races every two years bringing back to life some of the famous old races of the past starting with the 2,400nm Cowes to Monte-Carlo next year. The next in 2015 will be the legendary Venice to Monte-Carlo, in 2017 it will be the New York to Miami, in 2019 it will be the Athens to Monte-Carlo and in 2021 it will be the Abu Dhabi to Mumbai! Thats the plan and what a challenge to powerboat racers, boat manufacturers and engine manufactueres. Interested in becoming part of these legendary races? Contact me. They are only for the brave!!

Rubbish - many of the boats are capable of more than that - our E Class boat which is in the lowest class does that!
