Default Hunton Powerboats gets serious.

Press Release from Hunton Powerboats.

ONE PLACE IN THE HISTORY BOOKS

The British high performance powerboat manufacturer Hunton, is delighted to announce its participation in the 2013 Cowes-Monte Carlo Grand Prix. The official race launch took place from Hunton’s stand at the Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show.

1972 saw Mike Bellamy, Eddie Chater and Jim Brooker cross the line as the winning team of the first ever London to Monte Carlo Endurance Powerboat Race. 2013 will see the revival of the longest, toughest and most prestigious race of its kind, the Cowes to Monte Carlo Grand Prix. Covering 2400 miles, 14 days, 5 countries, and 11 intended stopovers, this race will be the biggest challenge these teams have faced.

Jeff Hunton, six times British Powerboat champion, commented “The aim of racing is to win but achieving that does not explain our commitment to it. For Hunton Powerboats, racing has always been part of the process of development and is reflected in the craftsmanship we put into our design and construction. This exciting race will be the ultimate test of performance, safety and reliability, what we learn from racing helps us to build better boats.”

Hunton, winner of over ten UK & International championship trophies, will shortly launch their ‘Team Hunton’ website (www.teamhunton.co.uk) where details of race boat designs and their specifications can be found. With Hunton’s racing pedigree and Jeff Hunton’s prolific experience, Hunton can help your dream to be part of racing history become a reality.

For more information please contact Fiona Pool or Jeff Hunton on +44 1794 515236, or email at [email protected] [email protected]

Vassilis Patteras, winner of the 1,400 nautical mile Round Britain Race in 2008, has entered the 2013 Cowes to Monte-Carlo Race. He will be using his race winning boat the 45' "Blue FPT" built by Fabio Buzzi and powered by three (3) 500hp FPT diesel engines!

Vassilis, from Greece, will be running with the same impressive crew as in 2008 and with his record must be considered as one of the hot favourites for this race.

Although not the fastest boat in the race Vassilis would keep up a steady 70mph all day long and was always in the top four at the end of every 200+ mile leg. A simple case of the Tortoise and the Hare with realiability and great navigation being the name of the game!

We are hovering on 39 Race Teams who have paid their initial deposits despite the fact that we had 60+ who had registered so we are awaiting the others to get their acts together and join as they had originally wanted to.

We now have Teams from 14 countries who are wanting to take part so this is a truly International race.

We are off this month to check out all of the venues.

Dream come true! What a prestegous event, I surely hope Skip Braber and Katrin Theodoli are at least considering this event!! Don and Filippo would roll over in their graves if they didn't.... I hope (and this is me just thinking out loud) that there arn't too many negitive "green comments" related to this as to adversly affect publicity.. I'm counting down the Days:hours:minutes......
