Was it the gel or paint peeling?
Sometimes paint is damaged by prolonged periods of time sitting in the water, especially salt.
It may also be a sign of poorly done repairs.
I have no problems with my 1997 31SS, I've had it since new.

you could see the fiberglass. They were missing junks all the way down the chime. It makes me mad to drive 338 miles round trip to look at a boat that is supposed to be in showroom or better condition. I told the sales man if that is in good shape i would hate to see what you consider bad. The 31ss is new and we are going to look at bring it home to va.

My 1990 had the same thing. It was caused by air bubbles between the glass and gel. How this happens, I don't know. Since my bottom had other damage, I went ahead and popped out all the holes and loose gel, filled all the problem areas and re-gelled the whole bottom. Not a fun job! An easy 100 hrs!!
