Default Hydromotive P5

Hello Again,
Has anybody tried one of the P5's (including X or Plus) on a 24'. If so, I would really like to know how it worked for you. I would like to push one at about 5,000 rpm.
Thanks,

T-Mone runs a P5X on his 24' Pantera and loves it. They are big $$ though...
You definitely want to run round ear props not cleaver style...

X should work great but I've heard about the additional stress it puts on the drive in higher HP applications due from less slip.

Jcap runs P5Xs on his Y2K and OH-Zone is now dialing in around one as-well. I don't believe the OH-Zone has found it to be faster top end than a Bravo I though.

Personally I don't want to spend the $$ for one. I would like to find a good used 28p Bravo to have labbed. Anyone got one?

I used a Ron Hill 5 Blade 23" pitch on my 24" Superboat this summer, it worked out real nice I got those extra few MPH I was looking for very stable allot of mid rage rpm. I stepped up from a 23" Mirage Plus, and I has a 24" 4 blade hydromotive that worked out great with the 24' Super. I usally ran anoud 5000-5300 RPM. Mid to upper 60 MPH Range, with a 454BBC and TRS.

Thayes Can you post some comparison numbers like the mirage 23 ran 40 mph at 3000rpm and the 5 blade ran what ? And when do we get some picks of the new TOY ? Just came across a thread in (PROPS) about best top end prop. Yes its a HERRING. Worth the money Im wondering how the 29 Activator in the shootout would have done with a bravo prop like the Superboat had.

Just did some prop slip numbers on on OZONES shoot out against the Activator. Assuming 5000rpm 1.5 gear 29p and 77mph = 15% slip Add a Herring and make the slip 8% the speed goes up to 83mph I think We have a new winner.

3 blade Mirage plus 21" 5300 RPM 64/65 MPH 4 guys in boat. (3 balde Mirage Plus 23" 5000 RPM 62/63 MPH) (Hydromotive 4 blade 23" 5000 RPM 66/67 MPH) (Ron hill 5 blade 23" 5000 RPM 68/69 MPH) I have turned over 70MPH a hand full of times in a rough chop with the Hydromotive and Ron Hill propellers. Both worked great with the TRS and 24' Superboat. Hopr that helps.
