Not sure about this brand but I remember as a child when my grandpa installed the brush style across the rear of his motorhome I threw small rocks at it to see how it worked but the rocks went right through it. I remember asking " you said this was to keep rocks from hitting the boat but they go right through it". Lol.

So when I buy one this summer it will be a solid mud flap of some sort don't really feel confident on the brushes.

With a solid ball mount, just took some 4" channel iron set on edge and welded to ball mount. Bolt flaps to channel iron and add steel plate for heat shield behind exhaust pipe. Shield dissipates heat so no hole in flap is required, but she does get quite warm.

The Rock Tamers are now offered in 2.5" , the only way to go .

FWIW, once I married my Rock Tamers to a ball mount; I made a "receiver" out of 2x4s; mounted to the studs of my garage wall. Then I could just pull out the whole assembly and swing it 90 degrees to hang it on the wall by inserting it into the receiver on the wall.

You should have patented that – now they offer that option with the system.

I also bought the RockTamers last fall. Didn't think about the straight out the back exhaust location of my '13 Sierra w/ the 6.2L
One trip back to Indy from Louisville and I burned a hole straight through the right side one. (And had melted rubber stuck to my boat)
I will have to order a replacent flap and make some kind of heat shield for it. I do like the adjustibility of the unit as I get a different truck every 1-2 yrs.
I would order a catback system with a 90 degree side exit if it wasn't a lease that I'll be turning in in 15 months.

I changed my exhaust to 4" MBPR turbo back Stainless Steel. It has a much friendlier exit location. I just need to hang the replacement flap yet.

mind blower , I can't believe you didn't cut a hole in the flap as soon as you put the flap on , what were you thinking?
