I'm with you Mental on the carbon fiber...I find that it's not as soft, i.e. comfortable, as regular vinyl. We are actually thinking of using it for accents as well. Just not sure how yet. Thanks for the pics!

Didn't make it to Miami this year. Is carbon fiber really becoming the norm in the cockpit?

I like the look of the classic vinyl myself. Didn't use carbon fiber at all on Remedy.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. It's all in what you like. That's the joy of building your own.

I went to the FT Lauderdale show and it was on everything. It seems to me that the bright white would be tuff to keep clean with all the little noks and creanes in the weave pattern. The most popular color I saw on compelets was silver/gray. I was ckecking all of them for heat and they didn't seem to be holding it the way I thought it would.

I talked to Michael McLeod on the use of the carbon fiber at length when we were designing this interior for this boat. He strongly recommended using it for highlights rather than for everything. It had nothing to do with liking it or not, it had to do with proven to wear and stand up over the long haul. It just has not been out long enough to know for sure.

Some early problems were encountered from some vinyl distributors, but I have not heard much about that for over 2 years now, so I think those early quirks were worked out.

Given the good results folks have had the last couple years, I'd feel safe making the decision on personal preference at this point.

I still really like the all white interiors like slboatdrinks. Still looks very classy.

They are a little harder to get into, but they hold you in much better. I like them better. The only time I think they will be less convenient is when you are turning around back and forth backing into a dock. They feel much more secure when you are running hard.
I sat in the bolsters of the yellow 43 at Miami and they are awsome. I was very impressed with that boat. Yours is hull #1 and the yellow boat #3 correct ? Was the other one at the show yours or hull #2 ?

Yes...All of the "high end" boats like OL, NT, Cig use it...You will still see some combinations of carbon fiber and a new fake suede vinyl. I have been told that the manufactures are moving away from the old vinyl not because of durability but because of dress. I am told that carbon fiber is more dressy (more colors, patterns, accents”. They say you can do more things with it. It shines versus dull.

I own two boats, one with carbon fiber and one without carbon fiber. From my experience the carbon fiber has been easier to clean. I also like the feel of the carbon fiber more than that of my traditional vinyl in my CC. It is up to you Macklin!

The other one at the show was hull 2. Mine was done with a base of pearl white, then silver and red in the paint. That's why I did the white over red and light gray vinyl in the interior.
