i cant believe iam going to say this becouse when you first mentioned green i thought yuk, but i like the green. really hard to make a good choice though becouse we cant see the colors. when you talk about skyy blue and pearl purple and flat green its impossible to make that call with the drawing that we can see.

i would make sure the dash is not too shiny though, i had a baja that dash panals where pearl and change from white to a purple in the sun and on real sunny days the reflection off them where really hard on the eyes.

Macklin I agree with BillR that the stbd. looks better than the port. The port side isn't full enough. The purple stripe on the port below the rub rail looks out of place because it doesn't flow into anything and add some green and orange(not red). His suggestions for the dash i couldn't agree with more:D . That dash pic. gives you a partial view of the sliding door also:cool: .

I agree with Mark on this one. The starboard pops more than the port. The blue dash is fine... Two ovals in the back would be my choice with the name on the deck.

SUDDEN THUNDER

BillR 03-15-2007 08:01 AM

Mac,
I would definately have the name on the back - both sides as well as somewhere on the bow - maybe in the white area - that would balance out the paint on the bow.

After all these decisions, Macklins' gonna need one!

Mark, I told you we loved it as soon as we said it to ourselves. It just has a ring to it that 'Sudden Impulse' doesn't. But still appropriate as they are now painting the fade.

Still working the details. Have gone through several more iterations. I should have a final rendering tomorrow. I think you guys will like the changes Pat and I have made.

I hope so because I NEED a full nights sleep! :(

Pat...remember...paint is your specialty.

Looking forward to owning Hampton Roads very first AT! :D

Reckless32 03-15-2007 10:35 PM

Personally i would leave the logo off the bow. You don't want a billboard. The lines speak to the fact it's an Active Thunder, plus whatever stitiching is on the vinyly and dashboards. Otherwise "Sudden Thunder" should stick out.

Oh, you know I'm a green guy too....:D

excursion 03-16-2007 06:34 AM

So my boat must be the poster child for AT.....:p :p

Well since your the poster child for birth control you as well be the A/T poster child.:evilb:

Macklin 03-16-2007 02:06 PM

Well Gents....my work is finally done. Here is the final rendering. One glitch is the white that appears on the port windscreen. That will be orange fade.

And still undecided on how to do the logo. But I kinda like the one on the bow.

Does is pop enough for your now Bill?!

Great job Pat and crew!! :drink:

Sydwayz 03-16-2007 02:09 PM

Sick!!! :D :D :D

I really like the way it turned out.

slboatdrinks 03-16-2007 02:15 PM

Nice job AT! Congrats again Macklin.

dkwestern 03-16-2007 02:24 PM

Looks Great!!

yzbert 03-16-2007 02:24 PM

wow, i really do like that, much better than the first. the colors that you have talked about are going to make that drawing even look lame. now go get some sleep.

very cool

BillR 03-16-2007 04:42 PM

Yes it does!
It looks GREAT!!!
Now come up to O's tonight for more boat smack
I assume there will be AT logos at the stern?

Now start posting some build pics - Pat, you have any?

camptappakeg69 03-16-2007 04:54 PM

Great job:drink:

Jassman 03-16-2007 06:17 PM

BOAT PAINT LOOKS GREAT. A few A.T. logos here and there will finish it off. What other colors or how will the sunpad be finished off. Thanks Jeff

Well, I take that as quite the compliment from you given the boats YOU have had built.

Logos are still undecided. Pat is steering me away from the old AT oval logo at the stern and I agree. I like the way they are now painting AT on the sides with 'thunder' in a shadow effect. I think I would like to have those painted on both sides of the windscreen in appropriate colors.

What do you guys think about that?

Gotta have AT on the side somewhere because folks we pass on the water will not be able to read the bow graphic.

I'll trade you snow blowing my drive way and shoveling for painting Mack's boat...:D

Mack....Love It!!! Can't wait to see it.

ACTIVESHACK 03-16-2007 09:11 PM

Sudden Thunder is looking good  Totally different than the first renderings. I bet Clark likes the dash but i liked BillRs suggestions better :D :evilb: OK Pat we're ready for pics :drink:

What about the logo as you described; at the stern above the rubrail?
Call me old school, but I like MFG logo's at the stern - not amidship like the "Donzi ZX" logos.

To the uneducated; AT on sides of windscreen; they may think that's the name of the boat. But if you decide on that location, maybe have it say "Active Thunder 37AVH"

I call it preobsessed. We did the same thing in '99 on our Tantrum. A bit stressful but well worth it....even 8 years later!!:D

Mark, we need to talk. I spent two years living in Boulder and working in downtown Denver. Got stuck at the top of a 'closed' pass (can't remember the name) in my Jeep trying to get to Aspen one night. Thank goodness some guys showed up trying to do the same. WHAT 4 wheelin' memories!

Must be nice dude!

Now, back to our regularly scheduled thread!!
