28 question?

Has Pat built any 28's with, oh say, a 750hp N/A motor and something other than a merc bravo drive? Konrad or IMCO 1000? Will the boat hold up to that much power and drive combo? thx

wasn't one for sale up in the NE w/ big power and a bravo?

One left the factory earlier this year that went to Delaware less power and drive. The owner is still rigging something like 800HP and an Arneson Surface Drive.

Tell me what you want, and lets spec it out. The boat will handle ANYTHING you throw at it. 1000HP would be sick.

very nice.....it will be interesting to see how a surface drive works on the 28.

how docking friendly is a 28' single? I ask cause my parents 29' sea ray w/ single is a handful. granted its a diff hull & a b2, but didnt know how the length effects its low speed maneuvers.

You have to know what you are doing, but it is no different than your 232. Your parents' Sea Ray is a lot more boat to swing around. It has a lot of forward freeboard which catches the wind, and with that additional weight, it will also be very current sensitive. I am speculating, that your parents' Sea Ray also has a Bravo III drive, which is also not the most maneuverable/responsive setup in a single engine at slow speeds. I was on a 28' Donzi Cruiser this weekend, with a single Bravo III drive, and the bow thruster is the shiznit.

I have 2 close friends with 32' BIG HP single engine boats (Sunsations). They are able to manage just fine as well.

What colors to you want Brian? :D

Docking?

Very easy if you watch wind and strong currents, weighs alot less than a sea ray-never had twins so I am at a loss there but never had trouble at the dock. vic

I agree with risky. They are very east to dock. I too have never had a twin, until now:p , but I can spot my 28 or back it into a slip very easily.
Now as for the big power question, I think the boat would love a big n/a engine.

If i can get a 600sci (hypothetical) in a 26 baja or a 29 fountain, I expect the same or better in a 28 AT.

Like I said, what color do you want on the boat? 600SCi; no problem. :D
