Default Question on 28 Savage

Looking to buy a boat in the next few months I have been looking at the 27 Donzi ZR and the 27 Fountain Fever. But I have been on this forum and I like the 28 Savage. I have not seen one in person but from what ive read I am impressed can someone give me some insight on the 28 like how it rides,, build quality, what kind of speed with a 496 ho or 525. what kind of money for like a 2005 or 2006? I have been out of boating since the mid 90s. and not familure with Active Thunder. my last boat was a 26 Scarab. I am really wanting to get back in the water. Thanks in advance for any info.

Well.....the 28 AT is a good bit bigger than the 27 Donzi & much bigger than the 27 Fountain, actually it's bigger than a 29 fountain. You should ride in one before you decide. Active Thunders are very deep and Fountains are not; wet ride. The 28AT has a larger cabin and alot nicer helm; fountain guages are behind the wheel. Donzi 27 ZR is a nice, fast hull with a small cabin. Just depends what you want....the AT is a bit slower with the same power, I would not get a 496HO in a 28AT...you will want more speed; w/ 496HO=65mph; w/a 525 75mph. The Donzi and Fountain both go about 3-4 mph faster with same power. Take a look @ my 99 28 in th classifieds; twin 350magMPI's, runs 72; VERY fuel efficient.

dlang,

I just sent you an email. Give me a shout and I will go over everything with you.

496HO is a 63-65mph boat.
525EFI is a 75mph boat.

They ride VERY well, often comparable to most 30-32 foot boats; due to a traditional deep V, and a VERY solid build. The boat is a true 27' 10" long. The 27 Donzi and 27 Fountain are really 25' boats with molded in swim platforms which are counted into overall length. The 28AT has a true almost 28' of running hull in the water; then add optional bolt on swim platform. The 28AT had the deepest freeboard of ANY boat in this class, as such you are IN the boat, and not on the boat. Build quality is done with meticulous attention to detail.

We just created the 2008 pricing schedule, and should be able to put you into a new boat. EVERYTHING is 100% custom, so you could be picking out all of your options, accessories, colors and fabrics just the way you like. All new Active Thunders come with a LIFETIME hull warranty for the original owner, and I can build in extended engine/drive warranty for up to 5 years. You are welcome to work with any of our 3 inhouse finance options with multiple programs, or bring your own.

The boats are built in Pompano Beach, FL. If you are up to a drive across AA; I'd like to invite you over to the factory for an afternoon.

It's flat out the best, deepest, biggest, roomyist cabin, baddest looking, snotty water crushing, 28' muscleboat out there in existance!! I have first hand knowledge...I was there when the 28' molds were being designed & built....and spent my share of time driving the 1st 28's built....

I looked and looked and looked again, I ended up with an 06 28 w/525 and loved it. Believe me there is NO WAY you can compare the AT with what you are looking at totaly different boats. Longer-- deeper--way bigger cabin-- wave crushers compared to the 27-29 or even 32 Fountian, The Donzi I have no experince with but from what I have seen don't go there if you want freeboard or a cabin. If I was in the market for a used one I would be all over spillmans boat, very neat with the twin small blocks.

I can't believe I haven't sold it yet; kinda happy. One interested party wants to wait till winter; it will most likely be gone by then....
