28 AT vs 28 Pantera vs 28 Velocity

I think the freeboard is all relative. More freeboard will make you feel a little safer, but the AT cockpit is smaller than the pantera. Also on hot TX days - I prefer less freeboard. I've never been in a 28 AT, but I have been in a 32 fountain that had a lot more freeboard then the 28 Pantera. The only thing I could see were the bolsters. When I sat in the back seat of the pantera you can see everything and you don't need to stand up to enjoy the water. From a back seat passengers perspective - less freeboard is a more enjoyable ride because you can see whats going on.

I did a short local poker run in the backseat of a 33 Outlaw. As you know, the cockpit of that boat is big enough to hold a small party. However, the freeboard is so shallow that I could get my hand wet by hanging it over the side while sitting in the backseat. I did not find this as secure as a deep freeboard boat; and would have much rather had more boat around me. I am not complaining; its a great boat owned by a friend, and the cockpit room is spectacular. Again, its all personal preference.
