BTW...I believe that my 28 sits higher @ the transom than a 42 fountain w/twins; just an observation. It is def. taller at the helm & freeboard throughout the cockpit.

Ride is just slightly lower than Boatfreak's (ex) 496HO, as well as Michigan Troll's 502 Procharger. I sea trialed both before buying mine. Very tough choice...all are excellent boats.

But for me............Catalina Channel (3 miles deep) + family and friends = TWINS.

Ours does not have a notched transom, so there was no need for hull mods.
Mobuzz, I've got two 50 gallon tanks; you got twin 70's?

mobuzz- I sure am glad our AT wound up in appreciative hands! It's one beautiful boat, and we miss it a lot!

Mobuzz I sure wish I had known you were out there. I was at the catalena races a couple moths ago and would have loved to see your 28. I hope all is well out there with the fires and all.

I've been following the thread since it started. Enjoyed the info and opinions on everyones boats. Thought I would chime in a plg for the velocity. I have a T-bred, kevlar hull with twin 280s' on a porta bracket. My first performance boat. It is light and likes to fly, literally, but, with 16 hours in the boat speed smoothes out the ride. Its definately a drivers boat, but, fun to drive.Being light I am sure it wouldn't be the wave smasher like the twin bbs'. Not the softest ride, but from plane to 85 in a snap. Enjoy your boats fellas!!! By the boat that pleases you. Drive them all! Then make a educated decision for you. I looked a couple of years before purchase.

As far as I know, there were only two- Chris' and the one now owned by mobuzz. We were the 3rd owner of that one- Wild was first, and I believe there was a local Fl. owner in-between. We bought it from Pat and had it in Illinois for a few years. I sold it just prior to imminent job loss to Andy Wires in Ocala, who passed it on to mobuzz (I think Andy got a Playboy Cig).
It's a stunning boat, and I would be willing to politely argue with anyone about the attributes of twin SBC's in that boat vs. a single big block. It's just my opinion, but I equate the word 'offshore' to twin engine boats, and it showed its capabilities not only in the Atlantic but in 3 of the 5 Great Lakes. Now it's in the Pacific, so that boat has seen some great water! If I had the funds, I would have one built with the same package- it has terrific balance.

Well said Jim; the boats are very unique and can handle the big water better than most people would ever believe unless they rode in one. I am certainly enjoying ours.
