The difference between a 496 37 boat and 525 37 boat is not that great. I would think the same for the 33.

Handling is the same on the 37 with either power as well. I wouldn't think a 33 with 496's handles any different than mine.

Ya it probly doesn't make any differnce in handleing other than proping (I will leave that to Clark) I just think it would be a great package if speed was not an issue. Though I will admitt the resale would probly suffer.

Absolutely a great package in either the 33 or 37.

I just prefer the extra punch with the 525's.

Its about 30K less. After you add XR's and steering, CMI's, you are at 10K less than 525's. Not worth it when you are spending 250K. You can get the extended on the 525EFI for 4.5K per side. Its about 3k per side on the 496's.

Clark, the 496's come with a 5 year warranty out of the box.

The 525's only have a year warranty out of the box. You have to spend an additional $9k on the 5252's to get the same warranty period that the 496's come with from the factory.

That's a huge difference.

Is that true? That must be new. Last year the 496's came with 2 year if installed by a "Diamond Mercruiser" Manufacturer and 1 year if they were not a "Diamond Mercruiser" Manufacturer. All a Diamond manufacturer is a company that installs more than X amount of motors a year. Fountain, Donzi, and Baja are all Diamond

The reason I know that was that Pat was trying to sell me on a 496 33 when I bought my boat. To upgrade to the 5 year extended it was 3K per side at in late 2006.

That is a negative Ghostrider. The OOB warranty on a 496 MAG/HO is 1 year. It is 2 years with a Mercury Certified installation.

Extended warranties are separate; and have a cost associated.
