Just curious how much is in your budget for fuel on a weekend?

100gal tank, I use to try to guess how much I was going to boat and put that much in. Then you end up want to stay out and end up buying gas at the dock kicking my self in the ass for not filling it while it was on the trailer.:grinser010:

You could always get one of those portable (if you consider 60 gallon tank on wheels) fillers and make a couple rounds to the gas station. j/k, we do that at the lake since theres no station on the lake, regular fuel prices since you fuel up at a gas station but its a ***** getting that thing out of the truck and then rolling it through grass and then all the way down the dock :D

I am more of an event/ destination boater which alleviates gas cost but increased travel cost. I don’t boat every weekend. I spent about 40K boating last year (boat note, insurance, PROPS, maintenance, storage, entry fees, towing, hotels, food, ect). I would probably come close to spending that much without a boat traveling. Fuel cost was 5K. I also paid an average of 4 bucks per gallon because I fill up on the water in Florida a lot in the winter. This year I will be more conscience to full up on the street. There are not more lap trips around Clear Lake just for fun. Also, a lot of the gas expense was subsidized by people boating with me. I do the same when riding. When I do poker runs, we always split the cost of the event equatably. For example, last year Key West was about $1K for fuel. We split it 4 ways at $250 each. Airfare was $213 per person. I rather do it by boat!
As chuckbeecher taught me growing up,” son, you can’t take it with you”! Let’s talk again if it gets to 8 bucks per gallon. I might change my mind. Interesting article below. http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...sABargain.aspx |
The cost of fuel has caused me to put my Boat/RV storage facility on hold for a while. I want to see what new unit sales do to give me an indicator of demand. 280 gallons of $4.00 a gallon high test does make one pause to think if this is still fun. I do like my little Concept outboard. 60 gallons of $3.60 a gallon 87 does not seem as bad in contrast.
