Hows a 33 525 boat run, that would give you an idea. I've priced out a 28 w/ twin custom fwc 350ci 475hp w/ b1s. I'm guessing 90-95 could be achieved. The price of those twin engines fully dress is the same as one 650hp BBC. I like the fact that b1s would hold up no problem. What is the raylar 550 priced at? Blew an engine in the apache, I've got about 2-3 years to figure out what I want to put in her. I like the idea of the raylar 550, but I'm swaying more toward the 496HO's. I just want something extra reliable. Do these high hp small blocks have any kind of electronic monitoring like the merc setups? Do they offer any kind of a warranty? |

The boat is the perfect package with 525's. BUT, If someone has about $60-70k? less to spend and is happy w/a 80mph boat, then I think the 33/496 boat would be nice. Remember, if you've never had it going 92, you wouldn't miss it; maybe you'd want more speed but that's always the case, isn't it? Don't get me wrong, REMEDY is my dream boat; but I do think Cosmic has a point about the 33/496, a good all-around boat that should run 78-80, dialed. |

Biggest problem I see with trying to put that much horsepower in a 28 anything is the ride at speed. They weren't designed to go that fast and nobody really knows how they will ride at that speed so its a pretty big gamble. If you want to go 80+ safely I'd definitely want to be in a bigger boat. |
