Tim is awesome. I have been up to Higgins once and was getting pulled over every 30 mins because of the boat being loud. I have the 32 with the T 572 motors in it. It is purple with the scoops. Cant seem to download pics here for some reason.

No problem. I remember seeing the boat on SW.

ThunderChris 02-21-2009 03:44 PM

Steve,
How does the handling of the new 33 compare with the old 32? Could you post a few pics of the cabin. Your boat looks awesome. The graphics are sweet.

rssteiny 02-21-2009 03:45 PM

Sweet, what hp are they and what kind of gps speed you running , with what prop, i to have a 32 and im doing my 500hps over as we speak

The 33 handles like the 37. I don't have any seat time in the 32 so I can't make a comparison.

From what Pat told me, the 33 rides better than the 32.

Rick,
The motors were originally Bulldogs. We bumped them up to 572ci and 9.6:1 compression. They dynoed at 700 hp at 6000. They were still making alittle more past 6000, but I dont want to spin them higher then 6000. As of last summer, I hit 93 mph on radar with a pair of stock 30 B1. I was actually hitting my rev limiter with the 30's. My slip is really high ( 18 % ). I tried a set of 32's, but only made it to 3800 at 72 mph before my port drive let loose. Rebuilding the drives this year and hope to try the 32's again. If I can get my slip down to 12-14%, I should be in the 100-103 mph range.

laszlo01 02-21-2009 03:58 PM

The cabin in the 33 feels bigger and taller, and yes chris's boat sounds awesome and I can imagine you would be pulled over alot up at higgins. Runs fast for sure.

ThunderChris 02-21-2009 04:01 PM

Steve,
Love the layout of the cabin. Looks like there is alot more room, especially with the side by side seating. Was looking at the 37 in Miami this year and spoke to Pat about them. If the economy was not so bad, I would get a 37, but hopefully in the next few years. I did talk to Frank alittle about his orange boat.

The orange boat is sweet. One of my favorites.

Sweet boat ,,,,,,, Im spinning 30 b1s at 5500 rpms at 84 mph with 500 hps, w/ carb work done and msd boxes i hope to make 575 hp when done refreshing and get to 90 plus. My 32 was so dialed in when new it went 91 on gps with the 500s, when i got it 4 years ago it ran 87 on gps now 430 hrs later 84 but i to have high prop slip.

You have a sweet boat Rick. I remember when you were out with Joe on St. Clair going for a test drive. I did talk to Julie at Throttle Up, and she had suggested adding a spacer to the drives to help bring down the slip since we have such a high X-dimension. Going to write her again and get a better understanding. When I spoke to her in Miami, I think I had to many beers and didnt comprehend everything she said. Did you do a comp test and leak down before you pulled them? Give me a call this wkend. Try and help you out the best I can.

Yes i did a leak down found a blown head gasket problem on # 2 and a few had some ex valve leak, bottom end is fine, just pulled heads on 1 motor today all looks great, so im going to do the heads over with some port work and new cams, lifters and so on. keep me posted on the prop slippage issue.

Thanks Rick

excursion 02-24-2009 05:08 PM

Rick, one question, why are pulling the motors down in the boat?
Much easier to work on out of the boat.
Trust me I have enough experience.........

laszlo01 02-24-2009 07:26 PM

Call me when you get up on thursday and I can pick you up on my way down. Also I read some old posts on drive spacer and prop set up and wanted to clear things up, am I to assume that the 37 with 525's and XR's the best set up is 1" spacers with lab finish 32's the best set up ? just want to put it back to the correct set up.

I'd leave it at the stock height and run stock B1 32's.

laszlo01 02-24-2009 09:28 PM

No spacers and lab finish 32's ?or just plane stock 32's ? also spacers or no spacers ? Just want to get it right the first time and we are on fast track to get it done right the first time.

excursion 02-25-2009 06:45 AM

Each boat is a little different, on the 37 AT I had the slip was in the 20-23% and I then added a 1" spacer and took it down to 14% slip which in turn picked me a some mph and alot on cruise.
Your boat from the factory came with out spacers, so you will have to test and see what works best for you.
Hope this helps.

excursion 02-25-2009 06:47 AM

[QUOTE=laszlo01;2808018 Just want to get it right the first time and we are on fast track to get it done right the first time.[/QUOTE]

There is NO such thing as getting it right the first time with a boat!!!
You have to spend a ton of money before you can get it right.
LOL:ernaehrung004:

Laszlo, The stock set up for that boat is no spacers and Stock Bravo 1 32's. Try that first and go from there.

I'm running the identical set up on my 33 and I find it's the best overall.

Steve

Yea i know, but im only doing the top end, cams , heads ect,,
they are actualy easy to do in the boat and i did not have to pull the drives and hoist the motors out and then re alighn them.

laszlo01 02-25-2009 09:16 AM

Ok will go with the no spacer lab 32 set up, sending props out to BBlades anyway and i used the labs on my powerquest and really liked the improvemnt, so will do the same here.

I went with Julie's drive spacer advice on a 32 AT. Installed a 1" spacer which did not help speed or slip at WOT. Did help cruising speed. I wouldn't waste the time with spacers. Nose cones put me from 86 to 91.

laszlo01 02-25-2009 11:02 AM

I was wondering on the nose cones, I put them on my Vyper and it really woke it up on the top end. Most likely just run the stock drives this season and see how it runs, gonna pull the motors next winter to see how they look and probably bump them up a bit to the 650 HP mark. Might consider nose cones at that point. Just wanted to see if I need the spacers or not, but looks like it is not a concern.

I ran a set of Merc labbed B1 32's on my boat. Did not like them at all. Experienced some blow out coming out of the hole and lost 5 mph in the cruise band. I went back to my stock B1 32's. Could care less about a mile or two on top end. I prefer consistent hole shots and solid cruise numbers.

You might want to run em before spending all that coin to get them labbed.

t500hps 02-25-2009 12:06 PM

Activeshack has the same boat too...he runs a set of labbed 28P Maximus and loves the way they cruise. I run 32P Bravos or 15 5/8 28P Maximus on my Formula and have a set of cut down (15 1/8) 30P Maximus as extra props that also work well. Mark (Activeshack) is anxious to try these on his AT and they might be well suited for that hull. (we'll have to get them on Mark's boat to see how they work out)....they are for sale, just not sure what hulls are best for that diameter yet.
