Coffin dash..... actually had to go look at pics and yep it looks like a coffin lining although I didn't think that until it was pointed out by Jeff.:drink:
Boat is the best bang for the buck on the market today, wish I had the 200K to build one... |

never had any troubles reading gauges.. Just feel it would give the boat a cleaner more thought out look..
maybe I will have the first... Just thinking out loud.. by all means not trying to be critical, just an idea. |

I always wondered, isn't it hard to see the port side gauges?
Not being a smart ass here. and those sticks things are for the passengers cap to hang on and not blow off. |

Direct answer to your question, yes it is the boost. You can play with pulleys and fueling and pressures all day long on almost ANY of the supercharger systems.
While the 525EFI and the 600SCi can be very close in output on a cool crisp, non-humid October day, the 600SCi IS a superior engine. Virtually, the only difference between the 600SCi and 700SCi (from the flywheel forward) is computer changes, cooling changes & supercharger tweaking. The 600SCi has torque management which saves the B1XR drive. The 525EFI does not have this torque managment, and the 700SCi does not worry about it as much since it has the NXT drive. (The torque management programming in the computer only pours on enough torque to get the boat on plane. This keeps you from slamming all the available torque into the gears of the B1XR and ripping them to pieces. When you are up in the RPM band, the engine is unrestricted. The Whipple/aftermarket setups to not have this capability. This is also the same capability that GM used in their trucks with the 496/8.1L gas engine. When they mated the 8.1L with the ZF 6spd. manual and Allison 5spd automatic transmissions in the 2500/3500-HD trucks, the 8.1L was un-restricted in 0mph+ acceleration. When they mated the 8.1L with the M32/4L80E 4spd Auto. transmission in the 2500 Avalanche/2500 Suburban, they managed the torque output (roughly 70%) so as to not rip the transmission or other driveline parts out when accelerating from a dead stop. Once the truck is moving & up shifting, the torque is released.) Hence, JeffC per your specific wants out of the boat... My recommendation would be to go with the 600SCi/B1XR package. It is proven to be at least 5-6mph faster than a comparably equipped 525EFI/B1XR in the 37 Active Thunder application. UNLESS, you want to go with the 725 Ilmor/Indy drive package. Then we are into a whole new ballgame & AT is eager step up the plate. so how many 600 A.T.s have been built besides Geralds staggered? |

as to the dash comments... theirs a seat for every boater. Personally, my favorite dash is the new 44 OL. Here's why... I like the side by side bolsters.. but only in a boat that has 6' plus headroom when walking down in. Now.. this is impossible to have in a 37' boat without a good looking deck like the A.T. has. So I would opt for separate bolsters ... but take a look what OL did. The cabin door is off center, allowing for another strategically bank of placed gauges that compliment the look by not only different materials and in color, but also in function. The dash is the perfect size to accompany all the gauges, doesn't looked squashed like the 37, and can be painted or catered to the individual.
Here's the deal.. We want what we want.. but are we willing to pay for it. No other boat co. offers what AT does for the coin. For 200k, limited time only (2002-2003 price's) recession prices to keep workers going, will you find a better built, better riding V-hull. The latest renderings from the factory are vastly improved from the earlier versions.. I was impressed in 03 when I took delivery of Radio Active, and now with more knowledge and boating experience in hand.... what has come out of the factory is a superior product for the same price.. Good Luck guys. |

Maybe yall can shed a little light on this for me. I love the big dash for electronics and gauges but dont know if i like the steering wheel not being center the driver seat. I understand that it fits your left hand better. But what about when you have both hands on the wheel. You dont always have your hands on the throttles.
I am going to be down there thursday so i am going to find out how comfortable it is. |

I am going to be down there thursday so i am going to find out how comfortable it is. Hold your left arm straight out in front of you, make a fist and rotate your fist side to side. Your shoulder does the movement. Now, hold your left arm straight out & cant your left elbow about 15* to the right and make the same movement with your fist. Notice how you are now using all three joints, the shoulder, the elbow, and the wrist. Move movement and more work equals more fatigue. Notice how your elbow feels heavy after a few seconds? It's not a big deal. If you want it moved over, we can do that. You just don't want it too close to the throttle pod. The tilt wheel is also a nice feature to add. The picture of Remedy's wheel is a really strong angle and does not appear accurate. Check out the rest of the pics of the boats here in the OSO classifieds. I know we all know how to drive here, but I'll add this as well: Rarely do I take my right hand off the throttle. Even in smooth water straight cruising--just like a motorcycle... you don't have brakes and your throttle will often get you through an evasive maneuver as much or more so than steering input/adjustment. Additionally, if you DO have to make an extreme/sudden evasive steering maneuver you will more than likely need to adjust the throttle as well. In that n-fraction of a second it takes you to find the throttle again, you could be in big trouble; especially in the case of a catastrophic drive failure. |
Agree with Sydwayz. Never do I take my hand off the throttle, especially in Long Island Sound!

Where else, but the AT forum, could you get a lesson in physiology??? :lolhit:

In about 20 minutes I'm going practice lifting a 12 ounce bottle with my arm straight out and then I'm going open another and move it to the right about 8", drink that one to see if it gets easier or fatigues me to the point of going home to my wife..... :drink:

My little buddy is probably out in the garage polishing his snow shovel, right Jeff?
Or perhaps his snow-blade on his John Deere tractor! |

It's a good thing we have fun around these parts.
And Jeff (customryder); If you would like, we'll build you a boat with an airbag in the steering wheel. :D :D (just kidding!!) |
I'm just glad I could provide some fodder:drink:
I did put a new cutting edge on the snow plow last week. Come to think of it, I changed the oil in the tractor and made sure it was in good order just in case in snows in the next few weeks. It sucks being cold:drink: The OCD stuff was a bit harsh:party-smiley-004: |
Back to the engine thing. If I was going to build myself a 37, it would be with a pair of Ilmors. You get all the benefits of the 525s plus the horsepower of the 700s.

Hey guys, I have been looking at buying a new 37 from Pat. They are beautiful boats. I have always been a cigarette guy and i currently own one. But after reading all of ATs threads i feel like this is the biggest bang for the buck. I am flying to the factory next week and would like some insight on Pats Incredible Demo ride. LOL I am wondering if i need to prepare my wife for a heart attack...LOL
If everything goes well yall may have another member for the miami boat show run. Opinions: 525 or 600 |
Well the ride in the A.T. was everything yall said it would be. It is a great boat. Thanks to Clark for the use of his boat. It is very nice.
I was impressed how the boat handled the water and going in out of the inlet was a great experience also. It was nice to ride in a boat with someone that really knows how to drive. Pat definetly knows how to handle a boat. Thanks for all the info that yall have given me and i will be making a decision on a purchase fairly soon. |
