Need to borrow a set of box stock maximus props

We are prop testing and need a baseline with the 5 blade maximus props 32 or 34 would be good, anybody have a set i can borrow real quick ?

laszlo01 07-28-2010 06:54 PM

Tried a set of 32 maximus props and still to small, Hydro making us up a set of 33 P5 Plus props to test on friday. 30 P5x Hydros are 4 mph faster at all rpms vs maximus 32's.

Macklin 07-29-2010 06:24 AM

What about the hydros you bought for the stock 525's...want to sell them to me?

Sorry Macklin, CRB already grabbed them, those where perfect props for the 525's

audacity 07-31-2010 11:27 PM

we have over 10 sets of props around what u need.

if you want to have me consult on dialing in your boat please contact me. i will exceed your expectations when i am done!

audacity 07-31-2010 11:29 PM

734 635 1697 is my cell

laszlo01 08-01-2010 08:13 PM

Thank you will call you monday.

audacity 08-01-2010 09:00 PM

no problem..i will be a skater. so i maybe $ss deep in glass. but my plan is to get our data acquisition system running correctly!

none the less i will return your call.

as a side note:
you should own 2 sets of props. 1 set designed for all out performance=acceleration and top end.
the 2nd set designed for cruising and efficiency. i built a set of props to get amazing fuel milage at 4000rpms at 71mph and a rock solid ride. it made it really hard to want to run performance props. poker runs is about it.

rssteiny 08-02-2010 04:50 PM

Hey joe how you been, i finaly got audacity to over 90 and rock solid ride as always.

You can always "rent" a set from Brett at BBlades, it's pretty reasonable if you can't locate the pitch you're looking for. Steve

Sounds about right, trying a set of 34 P5X Hydros today and have a set of 34 Labbed Maxis on the way as well, working on getting good planing time as well as cruise, have not even got to do full throttle on it yet. lol

what is your max rpm?

limiter set at 5800 for now but motors pull hard to 6200 on the dyno, power curve never dropped off, max Torque was at 4200 so will be a good cruise setting, will like to set the props to run to max of 5800 would be perfect. We are working on dialing in a good planing prop with good cruise, probably have a poker run set for top end I believe.

Second set of props....Hey it is a poker run, NOT A RACE! Just Kidding.

The boat looked, sounded and ran great this past weekend. Congratulations! Have you stopped smiling yet?

LOL Had to switch to Maximus props due to Hydros creating to much stearn lift past 90 mph and made the boat to loose, my guess is at least 89 mph.

Saw you on I-94 yesterday, just 10 minutes before you hit the traffic jam (bout ~4:00). We were going east. At the races?

That was us but we didn't sit in that traffic I jumped off and went South to 6 then back over to 65. We had a great 3 days at the races.

Prop testing and tuning going well, love the sight of the prop wash in the air.

laszlo01 08-16-2010 09:42 AM

To drop or not to drop, that is the question.

Question to ponder on in regards to running at higher speeds and flat water stability. Would it be best to drop the prop shaft depth 1" or ad extension boxes which would result in 1" deeper and cleaner water. I have had recommendations on both and would like to see what the consensus is on the application of both concepts or another way of thinking ? We needed a good technical thread anyway.

audacity 08-16-2010 11:00 PM

don't go deeper and not back on that boat! NOT with todays prop tech!!!

Please explain your thoughts. I have changed from stock Bravo lower to Imco shorty lower with 2" spacer and am curious as to the difference. I used to run Hydros (faster prop) now am running the maximus (still dialing in), the hydros will porpois the boat past 90 mph in smooth water, would this be due to the difference from Bravo lower to IMCO ? Just want to fully understand the difference between the 2 setups.

boatfreak 08-17-2010 10:00 AM

It's my understanding that these things don't like the imco case in a standard length. scarab98 (Tom) was having the same problem with his. I don't know they may be fine as a shorty. Some of the hop may be traced to the prop diameter. Have you run it without the spacer?

This is the issue with modifing the boat after market. Pat set the step height and bottom config based on power. You bottom was set up for 525's and bravo's. I would look at what pat did with RadioActive and Thunderstruck. They had simular power and drive set up. BTW full round ear props are tough to run at those speeds so is a full length drive versus a shorty.

Hull runs 112 so should not be an issue. LOL Thread was ment more to be a technical input and open discussion for those of us who like to play with prop drive and HP settings to get the most out of our boats, working with BBlades to dial it in and I can tell you the boat and Hull loves the HP, just mearly looking to discuss the various options as well as secrets I may have not considered. I am running a bravo top with IMCO shorty and 2" spacer for initial setup, testing BBlades Maxi props and a custom set as well this afternoon. Here is a pic for the guys that sent me a PM request.

laszlo01 08-18-2010 03:38 PM

Update, long tube 5 blade props plane fast with 1500 to 2K rpm with drives tucked in and half tabs, no prop slip at all and snap on plane, zero prop slip in hard turns at 70 mph and great cruise speed of 72 MPH @ 4200 rpm as well as awesome mid range punch (will put you in the seat). The IMCO shortys with 2" spacers like about 2 clicks positive trim and no porpoise across the rpm range in to the mid 90's, neutral or negative trim caused porpoise with the test setup on the IMCO's. This was under flat calm no chop conditions, more to follow......

boatfreak 08-18-2010 03:48 PM

Are those 15.5 inch Maximus?

laszlo01 08-18-2010 04:24 PM

15 and 5/8 32's as a base line, now we know where to tune to. Hydro is also doing a coustom long tube P5X for us as well.
