Took my Tantrum up to Grand Bend ON last weekend. It took 2.5 hours to get up there from Harrison Twp. There's nothing like running across Lake Huron at 50 mph. On the way back it took 2.5 hours just to get to the Blue water bridge. Ran through 5 fters all the way with the occasional 8 fter. You learn how to drive the boat REALLY well after being out in those! Kept the speed between 25-30 all the way accross. What a well built boat! Logged 170 miles total and spent 250 in gas.

Stock 502, standard 4 blade bravo prop, top ends about 70 mph. Mgh has boost, way faster.

Engine?

This is mostly directed towards MGH. I've been pondering around the forum, but I can't seem to find any information regarding what kind of power you're working with. The boat seems to run very well, definitely much quicker than the traditional Tantrum. Just thought I would ask out of curiosity.

Josh

Josh shoot me a PM with ur contact info to discuss the setup. Going under the knife currently -Mike

I don't think there is a "traditional Tantrum". I would be supprised to see two with the same set-up.
The answer to your pondering can be seen at the .50 sec mark of his video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=aHsenC6TkAU

It has a hair dryer, N'uff said.

fatherb's Tantrum does over 100

mgh 09-30-2012 11:45 AM

fatherb ..he has a Bad A$$ set up... I believe Pat Musi (race car engine builder) put together his motor.

my motor is a 500hp carb w/ procharger..we have it apart for some upgrades this winter. should be good for a few more mph.

here was a quick video coming back in one day..water was choppy..boat loved it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VvyG79PIEs

the tantrum is a 'BIG' 25 ft boat..glad I decided on this model..will be very difficult to 'upgrade' out of this hull without spending a considerable amount of $..but to be honest I have had my eye on a few cats.

AJ POWERPLAY 09-30-2012 01:25 PM

Boat sounds great, nice vid

scope1407 10-01-2012 11:52 AM

Here's another video from the same day taken from my Tantrum showing MGH's boat. I was running close to 5,000 rpms and he pulls away like I'm not moving.

GF falls with the camera a few seconds in, kinda funny...

I apologize, I can see how my wording would come off potentially ignorant to what's really going on. By traditional I really meant what would have been stock form, new of purchase, back when the Tantrum model was still being produced. Clearly there are some seriously high horsepower Tantrums floating around. Thanks' to all for posting videos, they never get old watching. I can only hope to own one some day in the future.

Josh
