I have driven a staggered 42 Fountain a couple times in some snotty water, and now have driving the 37 AT in some snotty water. I would say that at or below "cruising" speed...55-65 mph, the AT has a better ride. The Fountain really needs to be going faster than 65 to smooth things out and start flying the hull. After that point, they feel pretty similar...both do VERY well in rough water.
The 38 Fountain is a smaller boat than the 37 AT....less running surface...and, likely, quite a bit lighter.
Don't really know much about the Hustler, other than with the big integrated swim platform, its probably smaller than the AT as well, albeit only slightly.
36 Apache is a wave crusher...but you are going to be looking at a much older boat...won't have NEARLY the ammenities that the AT will have.

Water line to water line the 42 Fountain is 10" longer than the AT. That was based on one at my factory with a bathtub ring around it and 2 plumbobs.
Wanna know what else isn't as it seems?

Well I am going to give them a call tomorrow and make arrangements to fly down and look at it. Its too big of a purchase to buy sight unseen.
I've have four powerboats with mercury blue motors all twin engine(525 sc, 2-500 efi's and 1-500 whippled efi's running 83-95 mph)and want to make the next step up to reputable big power and drives. I think the Keith Eikerts and Bmax drives might be the ticket.
My biggest complaint about the boat are the front seats but most of the Outerimits and Nortechs have the same seats. But this does make for a nicer cabin. My wife and I really want the amenities also- a/c, generator, vacuflush toilet.
My wife said this is my last powerboat and she wants a cruiser so I am going out large.
I'll report back after the trip to florida.
Thanks for all the help!!!!!!!!

Peter at Performance is going through it and starting her up, checking systems, etc and I will have the boat here at the factory next week to start on some refurbishing.
