Fact is I don`t care about brand, after the A.T I went to Baja and that boat was superior in every way.
As far a my 80`s 'As good as it gets' Cig?? When you start building boats with real drives, call me.

I would say that the top 3 boat owners that dont take criticism are Outerlimits, Cigarette, and Active Thunder....All very protective groups of people! Hahaha

I do a few a year. Has to be the right job. No rust buckets. Here's a '36 Chevy found in moth balls we are just finishing.

I think the real drives comment is interesting and I also think that AT's obvious prejudice against building staggered boats has hurt their high end market. As wrong as the opinion might, it is basically gospel in the high performance community that a staggered setup is a better setup and there is no way to tell most of the people anything different. So, I think if AT wanted to catch some of the high end market they would have to build some 39ft or bigger boats with at least staggered Merc 850's and 6's

Since we are a custom built boat the customers delegate the power. Most chose 525s as a matter of record. Now the 565s are going to take over. I really like what I build and so do my customers. It's a well built boat with all of the amenities. If somebody wants bigger power all they have to do is ask!

BTW built staggered boats as well and saw no benefit with a patented and race proven hull that doesn't leave people swimming or worse. Plus you lose cockpit space. Hence the 39' idea I guess.

As far as drives there are a few ATs from the late 80s or early 90s with those SSM IVs on them like "Running Hot". We've used NXTs or #6s which are a little more current. Bravo XRs are great too. Ya just gotta have some skill.

I could have sworn AT was a fairly high end boat , it sure isn't low end . looking on powerboatlistings there is a 38 cig top gun with twin 525's and xr drives . for top speed it says 75 . If I'm not mistaking a 37 AT with the same power will run over 90 . So if that is all true Pat and the guys at AT must be doing something right .

Looks great Pat! I hate resto projects. Last nut and bolt was a Ferrari a few years ago. Took nine months and I am still having flashbacks lol.

AT is one of the top three vee bottom builders with Cig and Outerlimits, but AT has limited itself to really 37's with 525's. I am just saying that if Pat wanted to make the jump to OL and Cig territory he would have to build bigger power staggered boats that run 120+. Upwards of $5-6-700k.....
