Default Savage 28 Prop help

Looking for some help on prop selection with the new boat and motor. Mine is a 99 hull and has a notched transom. Center of prop is 1.5" below bottom of the boat. 548 tall deck making 635 at 5700 rpm. 660 torque. We originally had a RH bravo 26p on the boat but it was listing to port, swapped to a LH and it is nice and level now. We were out yesterday doing final tune on the motor. Water was calm, boat did 69 at 5100 but here's the kicker the drive is all the way in at 9 on the indicator. Neutral is 5.5. When we trimmed to 7 speed dropped to 65. This was with a Bravo 1 LH 26P. 1.5 drive ratio bravo xr

Advice please????

edited for proper rpm of motor

Did the engine RPM's change as you trimmed to 7?

Stock EFI 500 on a 28 I did was a 28 LH and it ran 68 every day, I did a poker run on this boat. The lean seems common on them. But you numbers are way low. Even pitch seems to small yet you can spin it up.

For comparisons sake I run a labbed 26P Bravo on my 05 w/525EFI. The stock prop would not turn the RPM's so I had BBLADES lab it and now I am at 5200 RPM and 70-72.9 MPH depending on load/conditions. I have a bit of that listing you refer to at certain speeds but I just drive right through it and it right itself.

I'm thinking you need a drive spacer. the propshaft being only 1.5" below the bottom on a heavy single engine V probably won't give enough bite to carry the bow.
Thus when you trim up, the prop starts slipping a lot and loses leverage. I would test 1" and 2" spacers.

Mike was this the 01 that originally had the pink and blue on it? Nopper did some work on the boat too? it then went somewhere the pink got changed to silver and now Derek has it with the new paint job? Derek is measuring his prop shaft when he gets home to let me know where his sits vs mine.

I left Pat a message waiting for a call back, the only logic I can think of is with mine being the first single 28 built, they built it with the drive high with the thoughts we can easily space down if need be but its harder to go up.

I should add that BBLADES put some tip cupping into my lab bed prop. Apparently this helps carry the bow.

Mine measures 4" exactly. So that would explain alot. I love my P5X. Runs 70 with 3/4 fuel and 2 people but the midrange and cruise speed is awesome! I'm going to try a LH 26 but not sure if it will be worth buying one.
