I have the old Poker Runs America performance test from when my boat was new and it ran 105 with a pair of 16" X 35P 5 blades which I have been on the hunt for. Another nice thing with those props is it was running 70 at 4000 burning 78 GPH, that puts the boat at about .9 MPG.
But as far as fastest 37, I think Laszlo saw some pretty high numbers when he got his boat dialed in with the bravos. Have any 37's seen 110??????? |
The 37 "Outlaw" Race Boat that at one time had 1200HP motors in front of SSM VI drives was over 120mph when it was dialed in and on the race course. At last time the boat/owner were in circulation, it had twin 800s, pleasure conversion, and the VI drives were still on it. The owner picked it up from Pat after the new cockpit was installed, and he's been dark ever since; and he was going to dial it in again himself.
The one that is in Peru now, that Customryder owned, originally built/owned by a guy in Maryland, then to Virginia briefly after Customryder... ...has Whipples on 525s with Bravo XRs. The OO from Maryland claimed it ran a best of 112, which many were skeptical of; Pat included. Remember, Pat doesn't design his boats for uber-top speed trying to eek out the last decimal point of MPH. He designs them for consistent and safe handling at any speed; especially in the rough. |
LOL I know about the 112 claim but didn't really take it seriously. I heard the whippled 525 boats ran around 105-106mph, I thought I read awhile back that Laszlo was in that range or higher.
What were the best props on the higher HP boats?? |
I think I know who has the fastest one now.

Do you know what "Whatever" ran when Stan owned it? Over 100 but I don't know by how much. I know John had to put the step back like it was originally to get it to run well with stock 500 back in it.
