Finished my digital dash up a few weeks ago. Talked to my upholsterer the other day and he will do my bolsters and other cushions early spring after my Mustang interior.

Are your switches for 3/4-inch holes?

Pretty much. They are 19mm (0.748") switches. I drew the letters and layout in CAD and then laser cut the holes and laser engraved the the lettering.

TomZ 02-05-2023 07:35 PM

Did you do all the engraving and cutting yourself?

I had a friend at work cut and engrave the dash for me. I did not have my laser at the time. After I got it back I purchased a laser the next week. Hers is a CO2 laser and mine is only a diode laser. Mine will engrave white acrylic, but has trouble cutting through white. Black, blue green, gray and others is not a problem for me to cut through.

Also, the switches are either momentary or latched dependent on what they are turning on/off. Also, the ignition are higher amperage switches.

They use Rule "Smart Technology" and power on every 2.5 minutes and sense for resistance. Also cutout new high temp silicone exhaust seals.

Where did you get those stainless exhaust rings? I have not been able to source one with four holes, they all seem to have three and my original ones were four.

Teague has them relatively inexpensive. Make sure you order the seals also. I used the 5" I.D. The gaskets will seal down to a 3.5" pipe. I did not use the ones I cut out. Cheaper than buying used.

Thanks!

HOLY CRAP, $40 for a single gasket! I've got 4 in exhaust and no big gap between rings so don't think those wider Teague ones will fit, but wish they did they are quite a bit less.

I've enjoyed the thread, lot of hard work in this beauty and such a wonderfull resource for others. Thank you for sharing. Really a work of art all that was put into it and new dash. Suprised some of the work that was required, but that is a great hull and cabin, it will be worth it. Really amazing some of the craftmanship on these boats. Its funny, watching bright people really put their entire life of knowledge into something they consider SACRED, time on the water.

It's look again the SS ring is $40funny, watching bright people really put their entire life of knowledge into something they consider SACRED, time on the water.

Look again the SS ring is $40 the gasket is$15, so total $55 per hole. Kind of expensive I guess but they work well, I still use a layer of life seal (or 4200) just to make sure. Mine are so tight I had to use WD40 to slip the gaskets on and have tested them they seal very well.

Was looking at the stainless marine website. The ones Teague has won't fit. I have 4" exhaust tips and the rings are probably 4 1/4" or 4 1/2" ID. The old setup just had an O-ring to stop the water and would of rotted out the transom were it not for a 1 inch layer of balsa wood.

At $50 a hole for ring and gasket I thought was relatively inexpensive compared to the others mentioned. I had the same spacing issue on my Panther. I just cut ~1/2" flats on the 2 inner rings and butted them together.

Just a couple quick upgrades. The flooring has always been trashed since I picked up this project. And the Loncoin is extremely hot! I always have towels down. Not only because the unsightly stains on the floor, but also the nuclear reactor that is housed inside every plastic circle of the old flooring. I also mounted USB plugs for my Holley ECU's. Hopefully take it out tomorrow and get in gear idle sorted out, wants to stall out.
I will try to install the new digital dashes soon, but work gets in the way of my boat projects.

No real updates. Just been out enjoying the boat this summer and working out some issues with the EFI. One engine is down a little on power compared to the other, but the vitals are good and is a re-freshed engine. I'm looking at coils, RF interference and other stuff. Port (dynoed engine) is stout and the STBD lacks a few hundred RPM.

Just some updating. Haven't used the boat too much this summer. Just finally finished up sewing the upholstery. The new silver is faux carbon fiber/texture. In the earlier pics the silver vinyl was just the old white vinyl sprayed with vinyl paint. It did the job for a couple seasons. I finally finished sewing the rest of the interior a couple weeks ago. And finished up my new cockpit cover last night. Instead of going with the usual solid gray or black cover I went a little different with a gray and silver to give it a little texture. I like it. Here are a few pics from the last few weeks. Next I should be installing the digital dashes and switches.
