Paint is really nice Rookie!

Some of the interior change. The darker gray will be dark charcoal with dotted diamond pattern.

Update: EFI is all hooked up with the new LS style coil near plug setup. The coils clear the headers with ~3/8" to spare. Sensors are working on the digital dash. Hopefully to the dyno soon.

Does the injector wiring and the wiring for the coils share a common harness?

Rookie 01-28-2021 10:49 AM

No. There is a separate harness for each bank and 1 separate 14 gauge 12v wire running to each bank. If you are thinking high voltage interference I don't believe the 14 gauge wire would have any issues with the injector harness. (it did cross my mind)

This pic does not do the swim platform justice. The pearl and metallics are unreal. I'll get a close up better lighting pic.

Stopped by my upholsterer today and picked up my sunpad and backseat inserts. I think they turned out pretty good. All of the diamond inserts are sitting on my fresh silver sunpad.

Dark Gray Diamond.
They have all sorts of colors. My upholsterer said that it was quality name brand material.

No problem. My upholsterer is pretty good to me. He allows me to buy whatever vinyl I want and he just charges me labor to sew everything together. It's like me being able to bring a steak to the steakhouse and they cook it for me. lol

I guess I never posted the renderings I went through. Here they are. Not only does the side change, but the deck and fades change also

I believe it was Marglass. They removed the cap and filled it with glass infused resin.

Time to pretty up all the other parts. Will this ever end? lol

I’m dreading that myself. I’ll be lucky if mine is back together before summer.

bencini231 02-28-2021 05:15 PM

I know the feeling of making all that pretty again!!! Mine are 5200'd in as well. I bit the bullet and ordered 2 new HP Transom assemblies just because I'll be short on time when I get my AT back from paint. Got a smoking deal on them new so I'll sell my old ones which are in really good condition, but I'm just OCD. Luckily the drives were apart from being inspected and the they got refinished last week. I let my painter spray my IMCO's in silver, because I'm tired of polishing on them. With the correct prep work you'll never have a issue with paint. I'll be starting a makeover thread real soon for Remedy. It's not anywhere as much as yours though!! Can't wait to see it all back together..

That's why I had 2 projects running in parallel last summer. I have a backup boat! lol

Getting ready to repaint the bilge. Any good reason to keep the old generator pad? I currently use a portable for my AC. I want to get rid of it and mount my port fuel filter like my starboard filter on the bulkhead.

Drilled out the transom. Taped up all of the holes, mixed up some resin, dipped pipe cleaners in the resin and then coated the inside of all the holes. I went a little light on the MEKP to give it time to hopefully soak a little into the wood. I did brush the exhaust holes.

When sanding down the bilge I notice a couple little cracks and soft spot in the bilge and on a stringer. There were a couple voids under the cracks. I ground them out and put down a few layers of 1708. Nothing wet or rotted, just weird. Tabbing come loose? I'll sand and smooth tomorrow.

I took everyone's opinion and removed the generator pad today. lol Hopefully I am done grinding and cutting. No matter how much you try to protect yourself, glass gets everywhere. It's on my arms, cheeks, neck. Irritates like he!!. What a miserable job. I just need to put some glass and resin down over the stringer that I cut the addition off of.
On a positive note... the resin'd holes that I did last night turned out pretty good.

Glass work is my absolute least favorite job especially grinding. Hope the irritation doesn’t last too long.

Oh yea I was gonna tell ya, there’s no way I’d remove that generator pad 😁

Very funny...
Made some progress last night. I'm going to put down another layer of glass were the bilge pumps are located. There are a bunch of holes and I don't know if I can see all that are there. Maybe someone hit it with buckshot while I wasn't looking. Don't want more water intrusion later.

I don’t envy you having to drill into that new paint job.

Looks great, nicely done. Don't forget to chamfer all the holes you drill it will help stop paint and gel spider cracks. The bilge looks great.

The first hole was a bitc#. But after looking at the original cleats and then the new ones, it got a lot easiier. lol

Thanks, I'll hit them with the carbide burr to chamfer them!

Finished up the front cleats today.. They might not look even in the pics, but I measured 78 times and pilot drilled 9. I made up neoprene gaskets and polyurethane sealed them to the deck.
