It's been a while since I've added to this thread, so here's a few pics from last fall at Pirates of Lanier Poker Run.

Well we had a great time at Lanier, until someone tried to get in a slip beside us and took about a 1/2 dollar size of paint off the boat in the silver below the 2 stripes.. Well just my luck that it was in the silver and it's almost imposible to blend that in without it showing. After some thought about what to do we came up with the idea of adding another stripe with a torn look on the bottom of it, except this on has a darker silver ghost fade to black and then back a ghost silver fade. This turned out great and I actually think it looks way better with the 3 stripes than it did with just the 2 stripes. Im open for opinions on it, as well.

I got bored last night and was in the shop looking at the trailer thinking about trying get it looking new again. Well it's pretty amazing what some 0000 steel wool and aluminum polish will do, especially since I only spent about 30 minutes or so on the amount I went over. I suppose I 'll finish it up this week and probaly go ahead and put the new DOT tape on, as well as order some new LED lights for it. I have been toying with the idea of powder coating the fenders black also, since i have the original 5 star wheels freshly powder coated gloss black.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4f95565b1b.jpg

I finally had time to remove all the decals, DOT tape, fenders, bow stop and winch stand. After many hours rubbing by hand with ultra fine scotch brite and aluminum polish the Myco is looking good again. Myco sent all new decals, as well as new brackets for an upcoming electric jack swap in a few days. Luckily I had some new DOT tape on hand. I had the bow stop, winch stand and fenders along withe the fender brackets powder coated gloss black. Also added all new clear 2 1/2" and 6" led lights along with 8 total 3/4" clear led lights on each side.. Here's a few pics of what I have finished so far. The bow stop and winch stand are just sitting there to get an idea of the finished look. More pics to come in a few days once the fenders and new wheels are on. Alao still waiting on the SCX DD lowers to come back from blue printing @ Wilson Custom Marine next week.

Finally got the trailer fenders and inner fenders i had made back on, as well as the fresh powder coated wheels and tires are on and torqued down. I took a chance with a picture i had thought of on accenting a few pieces black. Now seeing the final outcome, I'm really liking it especially since it's different than all the other Myco trailers out there. Castaway Customs cut me some black over grey Sea Dek for the trailer steps in front and behind the fenders, and on top on the fenders with the Active Thunder logo on the top piece. I also had them make a piece to act as a rock guard on the bow facing side of the fenders. Those pieces will be arriving today and getting installed tonight. Here's a pic with everything but the Sea Dek installed. Next stop is to Eddie Young's shop to get the Wilson Custom Marine blueprinted SCX Dual Downshaft lowers mounted on and then water test early next week.

Looks great! The extra stripe was a great add on for hiding damage, works great. The trailer came out great too! Surprised you didn't throw a buffer wheel on and make it a mirror!

Lookin good Chris........:drink:

I saw Remedy at the Lake Lanier run last September, beautiful boat! The upgrades you’ve done since look great too. Keep up the good work.

A small update from last night. I received the Sea Dek yesterday, so I got it all installed last night after work. I really like the look of this over the old rubber grip strips that used to be used on the Myco trailers. The pics really don't do any justice for the way it looks in person.

I would come and said hello if I had known you were there and thank you for the compliment. Were you on the same dock as I was at the very end slips? I know there were a few people from Florida on that end and one couple that came to talk to us had a cat there, but have a AT CC back in Florida.

I didn't put two and two together at the time that was yours, I just remember seeing the boat. The Cig I had brought to that run was on the set of docks in front of you, pointed at the trees. The Cig a couple slips down from you, was a buddy of mine, we trailered up from FL.

Got the Wilson Custom Marine Blueprinted SCX Dual Down shaft lowers back and installed last week, The difference in appearance and especially handling is unreal. You can tell a difference in every aspect including docking. Well worth the money since they cured my issues I was having with the lowers in stock form. I would recommend Wilson to anyone who has had issues swapping from SC to SCX DD lowers. Here's a pic of Remedy and the Myco all finished up and one of the amazing work on the SCX DD lowers.

Did you have to remove all the internals before shipping to them for blueprinting?

That’s what I’ve heard from others as well! They look great!

….Tell me more about the handling with these Imcos with the DD lowers. You’ve got my attention! Our boat is still all stock for the record. |

I was having issues with transom lift at higher speeds causing a chine walk issue. Wilson basically shortened the skeg along with other areas of the drive and thinned the whole from top to bottom in width, as well as reshaped the bullet and the whole leading edge of the lower. After reinstalling these the boat reacts completely different from idle to cruise and even top end. I picked up a few mph at cruise and top end. The blueprinting just changed the way these lowers cut through the water completely. As I was saying about idle speeds and docking, the boat just reacts for the better in every aspect. I know with Remedy, it likes to ride on top of the water, which makes it very likely for the props to be in and out of the water. The DD gives me way more security of the likely hood of breaking something. I also added the drive guardian for extra benefit of drive safety when I did my build That is awesome that they were able to dial your boat in just right by blueprinting the drives. I notice a similar problem with our boat even in stock form when you are running 70 plus mph in anything over a 2-3’ chop. The transom lift seems to limit the boat. I feel like Im skating on eggshells running the throttles because the ass end wont stay planted, especially turning a 5 blade prop. The boat still handles great and takes whatever you throw at it, and I know it would love more power, but I was worried about transom lift issues. Sounds like you found the ticket to dialing it all in and making the boat a new animal. Thank you for the information! |

Your very welcome and I'm glad to help you with any info you need for Stealin' Thunder. If you ever have a chance I would try a set of Imco SC lowers in standard length and I believe you'll be surprised the difference between the bravo's and Imco's. When I had The SC's on Remedy it was like she was on rails and straight as an arrow. My wallet says I should have left them on the there, but I wanted the extra protection of the SCX's with the big power. |
That is some good information to mull over, Thanks!

Finally got around to getting all the fluids changes and the Whipples serviced, also added the brackets with idler pulleys to keep tension on the blower belt. Thanks to Dennis @ Whipple Superchargers for taking care of me on getting the new idler pulley setup. Also removed the gen 5/6 sea pumps that had the fuel pump provision and replaced them with the gen 4 Hardin Marine sea pumps using their mandrel so I could use my factory sea pump pulley.

Shinning blue !!!

I'm in the slow but sure process of converting my motor over to a serpentine setup instead of the 3 v belts. Good to know that the Hardin gen 4 pump with their mandrel will work.
Did these start as 525's I assume? Were you able to use your stock water pump brackets with the gen 4 pumps? Thanks! Looks AMAZING!!!! |
