With the price of fuel I figured the faster that I can get there the less fuel I will use, ha, ha.

I can run all weekend on 65 gals. if I keep out of it :rolleyes: :D ......This is cruising at 50-53 mph at 3600RPM. :D

Mike,
There was some "dialing in" with my prop that DAH did at no extra cost. When you send your prop in tell John you talked to me and have the same boat/motor as mine. Nothing was done specificaly to reduce porpoising. In fact, I really don't have that problem with any of my props as long as I'm in good chop.

That goes the same for me on the gas. Boy but let me tell you if you lay into it you can put a dent in it in a hurry.

Rsstieny brought up a thought. When my boat was built for the Smith Brothers and an extension box was placed on it I wonder if they changed the X dimension. Could you tell me what yours is?
Mine no longer runs the box.
What is the proper way to measure the X dimension?
From the bottom of the transom plate to the front point of the lower gear housing correct? Or is it from the lowest point on the transom to the front point of the lower gearing housing?
Or neither?

Sorry I've not been online for a while. I'm on duty the next 48 hrs. I'll get the number to DAH when I get back to the shop.

Mine came without a box. We installed one in 2000 and tried a number of variations, (drive heights) and props. When all was said and done I finally got back up to 81 but control and handling was UGLY. In fact, now that you mention it, it did porpoise a little with the box with certain props. I would have to go back to measure, but I'm thinking my X was around 19". When I get back to the shop I'll measure it.
