Pat could give you better feedback on prop choice....he's got more seat time in that boat than anyone. The reality of a 25' Tantrum is that when the water gets snotty, that boat will crush it's way through and leave other similar sized boats in it's wake!!

Jupiter Pulsare,
The boat had a 26 on it when I purchased it. 74 was my best. I purchased a 28 had Mercury Racing lab it and they reduced the outer dia from 15 1/4 to 14 3/4. It seemed to reduce some of my porpoising and chine walking and I seen about 1 more mph. Rpms are hitting 5250 with the 28 Bravo 1.
Thanks for the feed back.
Mike

Hey, Mike you may want to have the 26 Lab finished, Have them put some more cup in the 26 if you're hitting the rev limiters...sometimes, trying to swing too large a diameter prop or too much cup will induce chine walking in a single screw boat. Our smaller, lighter, outboard powered boats are more prone to that than the I/O offshore boats. Also, keeping everything in the boat centered and low will help alleviate chinewalking. When your flying along at WOT the boat wants to ride up on the very bottom of the keel, at the same time the torque from the prop is trying to tip the boat to one side....it's a balancing act that can be countered partially in the way you steer and trim the boat, too much trim and the boat will dance like crazy, tuck the nose down a little, get back on the throttle, and maybe drop the tab on the side that keeps falling off (just a little) (if you have tabs??) and you should see improvement.....If you think it's hard in a deep V boat...try it with a padded keel....at over 72 mph I get white knuckled in my 21' Checkmate Pulsare/merc 225 Xri just trying to keep in on the pad.....makes for fun, challenging driving!!!! Jupiter Pulsar,
When I run the 26 which I think was lab I have more chine walking and more porpoising. RPM's are running right at 5300. Do you think that I should go back to the 26 from the 28 that is on it and do some more work on it? I realize that it's called the prop game which I will continue doing if I need to. My biggest issue is trying to reduce the porpoising of the boat if it is possible thur the prop.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike, sometimes finding a good prop will help in handling and reduce chine walking. Also x-dimension plays a big role..if your drive is buried deep in the water the boat will want to chine walk; you could try an imco shorty or xr drive (which I think is shorter, Pat would know as I've not been involved with up to date Merc info since getting out of offshore boats). You may also want to try a 3 blade prop..I would reccommend a Merc Tempest plus 27. Great prop for top end numbers. It's a never ending battle of trial and error when dialing in a boat. Good luck!! Steve,
Thanks for the input. I will continue with the prop game to see where It will take me and go from there.
Thanks again for the help.

I had a call from a guy in Long Island that is looking for a 25. I told him to come over here and talk to you hooligans for the straight poop.

Anyone want to start a new list is 25's available :drink:
