AO v. Awesome
 

On the 31's other then the dash, is there any other differences in the boats. Ie the lay up and set up? Can you get the same performance from an awesome as from an ao?

Early 90s awesomes seem on the heavy side. They both have the same bottom. The Awesome has a different floor liner with a little less room between the seats...thus a little more room in front of the engines. In my opinion they are alot of boat for the money in most cases.

I will add to Greencard:
1) Deck and cockpit liner slightly different.
2) Awesome had a seperate dash panel mold.
3) 97-up Awesome had front footwell inserts
4) Fuel tanks further forward on the AO.
5) Bravo transom cutout slightly different between the two.
My observation is the AO has the drives a tad closer
together.

#4 only relates to the cockpit liner and not necessarly the hull.

Hey guys, have any of you weighed your boats? Interested to know the diff between an 80's chris, late 90's AO and Awesome. Mine on the trailer is 12800. That's a big piggy for 31'!

holy chit, thats heavy for a 31' I assume you have a steel trailer? I'm curious to know the weight difference as well. I actually believe my '95 Awesome was lighter then my buddies '99 AO, Mine sat much higher in the water when rafted next to each other, never weighed my boat, but I have an old brochure from back in the day that calls the Approx. dry weight @ 6200LBS:lolhit:

What year is your boat?

WOW :eek: if your steel trailer even weighed 2000lbs that would put the boat over 10k. something seems wrong here as I would like to know what they weigh off the trailer.

My boat sits about 6" lower in the front than the Awesomes do.

IMO my boat weighs too much in the front end.

I comfirm what Randy said about the brochure and what is printed on it. Great question AO31. Weight difference. My boat is currently a bare hull with exception to the cabin and fuel tanks (empty). I am planning on weighing the hull and trailer. Then again once the boat is completed. Then finally when the boat is splashed, run the bare trailer across the scale. I will let you all know my numbers.

Phil, mine is a '98 and I too feel the nose of the boat could/should be lighter. Will try to run across the scales again on Sat with and without boat on trailer and gather some more info.

I like my awesome didn't get to use it but twice this summer"couple of boat problems" but got Keith Scroggins to get things back in line. But was just wanting to know the difference. Been so ticked at the boat lately and was thinking of getting rid of it. But the boat is just to nice to get rid of.

Ao31, is your boat a speedmaster boat? The drives, extension boxes, trannies, etc... can add up pretty quick.
