Re: Houston we have a problem over !!!!!

Well now with xmas here and my wife refusing to leave me alone with all the GD house freakin projects and the fuggin xmas lights and the granite in the kitchen and all this bullchit Ill never get to fix the damn thing.

How do you get rid of your wife for 2 weeks and get her to leave you the F alone already so you can fix your boat?
ready to wrap a tire iron around her head to shut her the hell up for a weekend so I can get this thing fixed already.
if its not one thing is 900 thousand other things that need to get done, fixed, upgrade, updated worked on or repaired.
Damn it my baby is sitting broken for MONTHS now and I have NOT had one minute to even tow it the hell home.
God being married sucks ass sometimes I swear to GOD!

Re: Houston we have a problem over !!!!!

I've had one hell of a year- in a good way- but as a result, nothing got done. Of course, the Mrs. just sees the "nothing got done" part.

I figured out how to shut her up. I subbed out a couple small projects- of course, they did a half-assed job. Instead of going over the 4th to visit her family, we stayed home so I could re-do what I paid someone else to do. Same on Labor Day weekend. Not only did she get to cool her heels at home, I wasn't around to do whatever she wanted. She was "invited" to pitch in as well- which lasted all of 10 minutes.

Haven't heard from her lately.

Jayl13 12-12-2006 08:58 AM

Re: Houston we have a problem over !!!!!

Nice, Mine will pitch in herself but she gets frustrated with a paint brush in her hand, screws up and then blames it on me so I have to either fix what she did or just do it all and not have to listen to it anymore. I dont expect her to cut granite though but I am almost done the entire kitchen and the bathroom marble got all done already but im not going to get any new "Bright ideas" for doing anything until after the boat is back up and running and painted and face lift surgery done to her.
From there the other projects can continue but ill bet that will eliminate actually USING the boat so im screwed if I do or screwed if I dont I guess.

I guess I'm lucky. I trained Debbie early that I do what I want to do, when I want to do it. If there's anything she wants done, either she can do it, or if she gets the okay from me, hire someone to do it. I have a zero tolerance for Honeydo work.

~!

That's another reason I don't work on the house. I don't care what it's worth, because I never plan on selling. They can bury me in the back yard. I love this place.

As long as it doesn't rain on my head, and the sh!tter works, I'm good to go. :D

I know it may cost more, but why not bring the boat to Stotler and let him do it. You'll probably be boating a lot sooner too. You said it is a simple fix?

If we put the boat in this weekend (it's on the trailer) you're more than welcome to go with us. That is, if you don't mind riding in a Cig....:D

Is this guy jay for real?
Is he the one that was going to help Thad Alan make the best Apache yet?
Did anyone take a look at his old boat? WOW
I dont think you should be working on anything Jay.

Chris dont worry about it. Ill get ribbed for working for Thad for the rest of my life. I pay it no mind
And lets face it, Who has a 41 Apache
I DO
End of story and my engines are NOT tired at all.

Re: Houston we have a problem over !!!!!

You know, the whole Thad thing gets laughed at but look at the facts- He put his money where his mouth was- he spent serious coin on the project. For every Thad Allen, there are 100 guys whos "next big thing" never gets past paper.

He made the mistake of thinking he could talk up his project the same way Reggie and some of the other big-name guys do. That and not looking into the whole Apache name thing a little better.

The whole Lamborghini/chase thing was a bit bizarre though.

I for one would have liked to have seen the project succeed.

P.S. Ambushing first-post trolls are nutless pole smokers. Got something to say- put your name on it.

Re: Houston we have a problem over !!!!!

Well I bought the boat from Sam who is listed above as 8-UP and other than stupid UPS and paperwork delays that BOTH Sam and myself were freaking out over the apache I bought from him the purchase went smooth. (took a little longer to finalize the deal than we both would have liked but still went through no problem) but I find it funny that Sam and those guys are up in Peoria IL so I think someone is trying to cause trouble for "performance Boats in Peroia IL"
Bill and Sam were cool to deal with so I cant see that post being from anyone there.

As far as Thad, Demanding and rough guy to work for but he wanted PROGRESS, he wanted that 41 to get done, he pushed everyone to get that mold DONE and for it to be perfect. He did get what he wanted but legal issues destroyed everything he busted his hump to achieve. Him letting us all go, that sucked but hey thats business. He had funded that entire thing out of his own pocket from soup to nuts. First off not many people around have that kind of coin and if they do, boating is on alot of people "hell no" list of investments. He had his heart in the right place but got taken for a ride (even I dont know every detail of that whole legal thing)
Chris you are right, he put his money where his mouth was without question. I for one would love to talk to Thad again but I have not heard or seen anyone other than Koss (even that was a while ago)
I did see John the chemist driving through Boca one morning going to work but never got any contact information from him.
Ill have to call Koss to see how he is doing these days and what he has been up to lately.
So I get ribbed for working for Thad, okay fine, I worked for Thad so what?
So did alot of other people. Why am I singled out for working for thad? What about Billy, Timmy, Steve K, Steve W, Richard, John, etc, etc, etc ?
They are all okay, its JAY thats the big problem at Apache.

Re: Houston we have a problem over !!!!!

Im working on it and im working on my 77 TA as well
Talked to LAZ down at Mesa today about my heads and block and stroker kit for my 400 to make it a 468 with a 455 crank and 60 over.
All in good time. Plus the apache is getting painted soon so she is going to be down for a little while anyway
I have the rest of my life to use the boat, so no worries.
My hair is not quite that long but getting there.

Plus come on im 35 and own a 41 apache. Herb Stotler has my back with this engine situation anyway. Going to buy the 2 rockers I need, new set of lifters and new set of push rods and a new carrier for the shaft mount rockers on that head and just get it back together.
Its time more than anything that is killing me at the moment so it will get fixed im not concerned.
Chris, everyone worked for Ben while he was a free man. And I worked for thad,
Saying that whats the point, okay I worked for Thad.
Hey guess what, I worked for plenty of people so far in my day, Thad was just one of the people.
And.......
I work for 3 Italian guys now that are the best.
AND...........
See my point? So I worked for Thad.

Point is, Mark & Bob are held in high esteem and they worked for someone of "ill repute".

Shouldn't you working for Thad be at least a couple dozen steps up from there?

Re: Houston we have a problem over !!!!!

ok..looking at the piks I noticed something right off, looking at broken parts can give clues, see the area pointed to in red? notice the colors dark, the yellow is bright..not the best pik for me to look at but it appears the dark areas have been cracked for a while, weakening the part. the brighter area in yellow appears to be a fresh fracture, hence its shiney.... when it failed, it probably bonced around and caused the rest of the damage.. Im not a motor guy, but in 20 years of racing, I have seen my share of broken stuff :\

If my boat was down for a couple months up here in NJ we would loose the entire season. I guess things are different down in Florida.

Jayl13 03-06-2007 01:48 PM

not yet, having another engine built at MESA Balancing at the moment so this is sitting for now. I am also trying to finish my house stuff and then bring the boat home for the weekend and pull the engine apart and fish those lifters out of the valley. She needs a bath real bad too, she is DIRTY!

daveboys 03-07-2007 08:44 AM

Jay check the lifter bore carefully. Lot of time if the lifter busted in the bore it will score up the lifter bore and it will have to be bushed. I'd still want to know what kind of heads are on that think. Do you have a picture of the rockers on the hear that would help.

We use to run a 525 inch KB olds with Dart big cheif heads and had a lot of trouble braking rocker arms and lifters. It used an offset lifter and it would split down the side near the offset.. The problem with it ended up being the head.
