Hey Everyone,
The boat is ready to go in the water come this spring. Simply ran out of time last season. Drives went to Colabella to be gone through, did bellows, carb kits, valve springs, full fluid changes, plugs, fuel pumps etc. So hopefully any obvious gremlins from sitting will be taken care of. Had it running just in time to winterize it :( Also, we live on the Susquehanna River at the head of the Chesapeake Bay and had one of the worst floods in the last 40 years this Sept so that didnt help things either! Water was full of debris and our focus had to shift to clean up and repair of some of our investment properties. GR is all tucked away in heated indoor storage for the winter and we are looking forward to waking it up in the spring. I will definetly post after we get out there. Thanks, Brad |
Excellent

Brad, Your Apache is my favorite. When the wife and I went to Florida to pick our boat up in '99 we passed Ghost Runner on I95. I almost rear ended the car in front of me!. We keep our boat at Tomes just up the street from you (been there since '01). See you in the spring. We have a 25 Active Thunder. Big brother Ike has Indian Outlaw 41 Apache. Heres a video of us in Key West running with Bob Oliver and Firewater:

Hey Everyone,
Yes we are still alive and trying to get Ghost Runner in the water. We were planning to have it in this weekend for Memorial Day, and were going to have our local Hi and Dry handle the boat. Took it down there yesterday to lift it off the trailer and get it set up. Apparantly our Apache is the fat kid on the see saw at the playground. The 20K fork truck could not safely handle the boat!!! We got it off the trailer with a pair of trucks and slings and on to a bunk. When we tested with the forklift to see how it would go, the ass end of the lift was barely still on the ground with the max counterweights they have. There was no way they could safely move the boat. The 6's and the stagger really move the center of gravity forward and even though they lift other similar size boats, this one proved stubborn with the focal point of the weight so far in front of the fork lift mast. Soooo... the saga continues, really wanted to rack store the boat but the other marina close by is full and has a waiting list. We may have a line on a wet slip here in town that has a 15K hydro lift in it. Boat would be up out of the water, but the slip isnt covered. Its better than nothing at this point. If I can find a place to wet launch the monster now to get in the water we still might make it in later this weekend. I will keep you all posted on the maiden voyage, been looking forward to this for awhile, yesterday totally bummed us out, but nothing about these boats is normal so why should that be any different! Brad |
Well, that sucks! Good luck on finding a place. Looking forward to seeing that beast on the bay. Check out CBPBA.com, we would love to have you join us on a poker run! :)

Brad,
A friend told me you were out this afternoon and said the boat sounded good and had a nice roost! I was out most of the day, it was a great day to be on the water! Frank |
Hey everyone,
Well we finally got her in the water! All in all we had a great first day out, my first time at the wheel of a 41 and all I can say is this thing is a beast. Wet launched and ran back to the slip, tested out the hydro lift and then chased a few carb gremlins due to the crappy E 10 fuel. Took an afternoon run and anchored out for awhile. Havent pushed it yet never went over 4500 RPM's, but it feels and sounds great. Looking forward to the summer. If anyone is boating in the area stop by and see us, were in Tomes Landing Yacht Club Marina, you cant miss the boat. Quick little video of us running, will have to get a better one. Not sure how fast we were going, the battery in the GPS speedo is dead and we will have to dismantle half the dash to get it out, wasnt a prioroty right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY5AUMcJZ4M Brad |

Frank We were anchored out at Sand Island when you went by both times, you should have stopped in. Your boat looked and sounded good. GR does throw quite a tail, every time I looked back I just giggled a little. It was a pretty day. Not sure if we are going out today, maybe for a quick run, my to do list at home is piling up because I have been Apache obsessed all last week trying to get ready. Hope to see you out there this summer. Brad |

Hey Brad, why not launch it at anchor marina in north east? i have launched both my 41's there for years, no problem, plenty of room and there fork lift handled them fine when i used to rack it. Ike
Yea I talked to Anchor about rack space, they were full and had a waiting list, hard to believe. Their ramp is a good one, and for $10 its a deal, but I didnt really want to put in so far from home if we had trouble. I never had the boat in the water before, and it has not seen water in years. Also naturally we werent ready until one of the bussiest boating weekends of the year so I didnt want to tie up that ramp. We will be over there often as that is the only place up this way for 93 on the water. We used the ramp at Perryville and it worked out well. Hope to see you out there this summer. Thanks, Brad |

Another succesful day out on the water in Ghost Runner, had a nice little chop today, hard to believe how much better this boat rides than our old Scarab. No issues so far, I guess its time to start leaning on it a little bit the next time out. Pleasure boating in a 6 pack boat can be done, smaller coolers and be prepared to climb around a bit, all part of the experience. Sucked the first set of tanks dry, trying to figure out how far we can run on a certian amount of fuel.
Time to start cleaning and detailing at this thing, we have been so busy crawling over the mechanicals, we havent had much time for polish. Probably take half a day to clay bar and wax the bow! Brad |
I love seeing posts like that. Enjoy that boat and I hope you have a great summer!
|
Hey brad we seen you today in front of port. We leave our boat in tomes. I've admired your boat every time I'm down there. It looked great out there.
|
congrats, cant wait to see it!
|
Call your parts guy for an antenna that doesnt use a battery and leave the old on where its at...special deal for you. I forgot you bought this boat through Mark.
Special deal on antenna, just email me! Congrats on the boat and getting her wet! Kirk |
Thanks guys!
Hey Kirk, How have you been? Sorry we havent emailed you, the Apache hasnt needed anywhere close to the amount of stuff the Scarab did. You know you will be my first email when I get around to messing with the antenna. The thing that sucks is the old one is mounted right out on the ferring in plain sight, we thought about leaving it there and putting a new one on the other side to match, well see how much of a pain it is to get out. How has business been? Hope things are going well. Thanks, Brad |
Hey Brad is your boat back at MER if so I was going to try to get down there to take a peak at it. They have my old Sonic there.
|
No, it has not been at MER since we picked it up last summer, it is up here in Port Deposit, MD hopefully still sitting happily on its lift in the slip. If you stop by MER tell Mark I said hi, he is a good guy.
|
Good luck with the boat...see it a bunch since we keep ours at Tomes
|

you can still have it....lets make a deal on your 41!! :D |
So far so good, been out probably seven times or so. Had a good run today, ran down to Jellyfish Joels and hung out for a bit. Longest run we have taken so far, and it ran well. Blew through about 100 gallons of fuel in no time. Cruises well at 4000 rpm, but they do have a rhythem to them at the slower speeds. Up around 5 grand it really starts to come alive and sit up and go. Brightest candle burns the fastest, so trying to stay out of the high RPMs for now, just want to go boating and log some hours.
Picked the hottest day of the year to start clay baring the bow, 6 hours later it looks much better. Now for some wax. Will be time for oil changes again soon. Still hard to believe we have this awesome machine, looking forward to the next ride. |

That doesn't happen on the 36' thankfully. Looking forward to seeing that thing in person. I think I'll be out this weekend. |
Hey Frank,
Yea a little tab will take it out, but I hate dragging tabs since you know its shaving a little speed doing it. Guess the answer is more throttle! Hope to catch up with you guys soon. We run to Sand Island alot as its close to our house, also we will head over to the Bohemia a couple times this year, we have some friends who keep a boat at Hacks Point and the sand bar up there is a fun place to hang out. Will probably get to the Nauti Goose a time or two. Where do you usually boat? |
