Here is a quick video my wife took the first day we were out, pardon the squashed screen, must be an I phone thing. Hope to get better video soon. I want to get her out on her Jet Ski so she can get some pics/video of us running, and a couple good fly bys.

Hey Frank,
Yea a little tab will take it out, but I hate dragging tabs since you know its shaving a little speed doing it. Guess the answer is more throttle! Hope to catch up with you guys soon. We run to Sand Island alot as its close to our house, also we will head over to the Bohemia a couple times this year, we have some friends who keep a boat at Hacks Point and the sand bar up there is a fun place to hang out. Will probably get to the Nauti Goose a time or two. Where do you usually boat? This past Saturday we had a fun-run down to Waterman's in Rock Hall. We had about 12 boats meet up at Turkey Point @ noon and made the run and there were 35 people at the lunch stop despite the 100+ degree weather. After lunch we headed over to still pond for a raft-up the rest of the afternoon. My house is about 10 minutes from the Bohemia so if we have a late day out, we'll head over that way. I've been to the sand bar in the Bohemia just before the bridge on the left side. I understand a bunch of people go past the bridge but I haven't done that yet. I live on the Elk near the mouth of the C&D on the Western shore. If you ever head to the Inn, look to your left about a 1/2 mile just before entering the Canal and wave! l can see all the boats heading to/from the Inn on the weekends. |
A few pics, on the lift in the slip.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/...iftatTomes.jpg The fork trucks got it off the trailer, that was about it. http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/...sliftingit.jpg When we got the drives back from Colabella we decided the lowers would look better brushed out, I like them better that way, sure is a lot easier to keep than paint. Grabbed some prop covers for when we are out swimming around the boat, I know I would be the first one with stitches. http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/...opcoverson.jpg |
Looking good. I've always liked it.:ernaehrung004:

Love it!!

Were the drives originally yellow? Looks great

Thanks for the kind words guys. Its funny, were the only go fast in the wet marina where we keep the boat. So far no one has seemed to object to the boat, it does stick out like crazy in the crowd of cruisers and pleasure boats. No one has asked me about the giant "69" yet, they probably have drawn their own conclusion :) Its kind of funny, as you walk down the pier we are on from the end, all you see is the "69" on the bow right in front of you.
When we light it up, everyone seems to stop what they are doing and stare at us, it was great the first time docking Memorial Day weekend when I had no clue what I was doing (probably still dont for that matter), and only one screw would stay running, needless to say I had an audience! |
41's are a great looking offshore powerboat...especially with 6's!

Yes the drives were that color when we got it, and have been that way as long as it has been Ghost Runner, at least as I understand it. They were no doubt a lot brighter years ago. I think we are going to do them a bright flourescent green when we repaint them. They have faded to kind of a mustard shade with a hint of green.

Hi Everyone,
Couple questions for you Apache gurus. Did some routine maintenance this weekend and ran the boat again, had another good run. Looks like in flat water with about half a load of fuel and 5 people we are running 75 MPH @ 5 grand, crusing at 60 MPH @ 4 grand. Motors build power to 6200 so my math based on that puts it around 93 or so top end. How do you guys burn down your fuel load, do these boats prefer the weight in the rear saddles or the bow tank, we have been using the bow tank last to keep some weight in the nose. Perhaps we should be doing the opposite. Our boat has 1.62 ratio # 6's on it, and honestly I dont know the specs on the props. It would be fun to play around with some. Props are 5 blade Rollas, turning in right now. Tried calculating the pitch but without knowing slip you cant solve for pitch. I am sure getting into some rougher water would help, but we havent had a good rough day yet to see what the differences are. Hard to believe that the MPH figures could be swayed that much by fuel load in these tanks, what do some of you experience? Thanks, Brad |
If you want to do the math it's pitch X rpm's divided by gear ratio. Then divded by 1056. This gives you top speed then X by .90. Ten % is average slip.

Geronimo is an incredible ride. *Thanks for allowing me to tag along for Rock the Bay! *Always funny to hear some people complain about getting beat up in the "rough stuff". *Seemed like a leisurely cruise on the bay, not sure what they were talking about. **
I'll send pics and videos your way this week. Confirmed that the custom parts on order have a 2-3 week lead time. *All goes according to plan, we should have an opportunity to do a run together this fall. * Brad and I spent the day doing some cosmetic work in the bilge. *Can never leave well enough alone, always chasing perfection. |

It was great meeting you and glad you came with us on the poker run. One Apache brother to another! Looking forward to making some runs together! |

Any other Apache's going out labor day weekend ?
|
540....Do you own Warpaint?
|
Yes, I still have alot of work to do - interior , repaint , new dash etc.... but it runs great , I rebuilt the 540's in 09 and just put new xr's with imco lowers on from Dimarco Marine. I am having too much fun running it to lay it up. Hopefully next year I can get started on the rest.
|
Thanks Frank. Txt'ed a bunch of pics to your phone. Haven't completed editing the video and stills on the MAC. Hope to get that posted this week.
@ Apache540 Ghost Runner is on land for some mechanical upgrades. So not going to be out next weekend. Will have her back out on the bay later in September. |

Hey Frank,
It was nice meeting you and your wife last night. Wish we could have done the run with you guys, but we were busy doing some of our "usual boating" on land in the bilge! We will be back out there for the tail end of the season, hope to get to run with you guys. Brad |

Any update guys?
There was finally some water for me to run the boat in this weekend!:evilb: |
Hey Frank,
Been working on it, bilge is almost all back together, had a bunch of parts powdercoated in a translucent purple, they came out awesome. Motors are probably a couple weeks out yet, boat should be ready for them by the end of this coming weekend. Replacing all the water hose etc. Will post some pics when all rigging is back in ready for motors. We will be back on the water at least a couple times before the season ends, hopefully your still out there, would be fun to catch up! Brad |
