What do you want and what do you want to spend?

900's+ (fresh, staggered setup) or None

6's

As far as price, it has to be a great deal. I'm not in a rush, just waiting for a deal to come along. Looking to redo the boat. Too many variables to even discuss price.

kcsteve124 10-14-2011 12:57 PM

Pm Sean Stinson,he knows where alot of them are at.

I think putting Lethal Weapon back together would be awesome. That was one great boat when it was repainted as Lethal Weapon from Red Cloud. I believe the owner is willing to sell. Thats what i would recommend

I ran that boat for many years with the wild man Lester Powered by 550 cu in tunnel ram rogers speed shop motors. Billy Martin of the bounty hunter throttled for some of the races

you mentioned staggered and 6's, are you looking for a race boat or pleasure? There is a short list of #6 staggered pleasure boats that were even made.
There are more than a few side by side #3 boats out there available in the recent months. There are pros and cons to the different setups, if you are looking for one to restore you'll need to pick it up right so you're not upside down on it when completed.

Two that come to mind...Tatonka & Ghost Runner(recently sold). Short stagger, 6's, full pleasure models. I believe they might even be the same year....1994. Very nice, usable 41's. As far as long stagger race hulls, I always loved Flyin Falcon. Tonto is another beauty! $$$

Im Not looking for a pleasure boat. Im looking for a 3 or 6 pack, staggered #6 boat.

And I totally agree that you have to buy it right. Otherwise its just not worth it.

Comanche3Six 10-16-2011 09:23 PM

One that needs work will cost $ to bring it up to par. One that is really nice will reflect that in the price. To find a nice one at a inexpensive price....will be difficult, if not impossible.

If you were "given" a 41 at no cost with no power and rerigged (engines, drives, paint, cockpit), you will be WAY upside down on it!

What you think, Stinson

Bubba

Rick G 10-18-2011 06:47 AM

Tonto you couldn't be more corrrect. It is not an Apache but I aquired a 38 flat deck Cig no power or drives , with gimbals and exhaust and complete with all other rigging . All I had to add was my powe,r drives and trannies. In this this market there is no way I will get back what I have invested and quite frankly don't care , i just love this sport. Its worth every cut, scrape and dollar ( I'm a DIYer ).

Well lets see.....like I have always said unless you just have to have one you are better off paying for Tonto's gas and boating with him.....

Tonto's Theory

Hull $0.00
Chief Power/Twin Turbo approx $200,000.00
Drives/#6 dry sumps approx $60,000.00
Rigging/Parts approx $50,000.00
Rigging/Labor approx $20-$30,000.00
Interior/depending approx $15-$30,000.00
Paint depending as much as $100,000.00
Myco Trailer $20-$30,000.00

Thats using brand new stuff with the best people in the industry doing the work Thats a half of a million....go used cut that in half....do the work yourself lose the labor and 1/3 of the paint if you if you can paint.....you do the math!!!!

.................................................. .................................................. ..........................I would consider a 41 with 3 or 6 man bolster without power , with or without drives .

Not to mention no matter how good you are that group will do it better. The deal these days is buying the best used boats and doing nothing to them but running them

.................................................. ...............Ha Ha , there is no such thing , there was a 41 Apache at the high + Dry , it ran like 750 Hp with like a # 3 or something like that , well the owner had a personal mechanic working on it . I mean he hired a guy just to keep his boat ready to go . if you guys think you just buy the boat + buy gas , your dreaming , especially with the big umungous power they sell now, its not just a gas + go thing ,

Hey Cheese --
I'm pretty sure that NK/Parnell is well aware of what it takes to maintain these boats:lolhit:
He was merely stating that there are some great deals out there on boats that have already had a ton of work/upgrades and are in pristine condition. The cheapest way is to buy one of these rather than buy a fixxer upper....

Dave

Nauti Kitty 10-20-2011 08:28 AM

Thanks Dave
I can say for sure that if you bought Tonto right now you would put gas in it and take it to Key West. Those Chiefs are great but of course its not a 525 Question concerned 41 Apaches so they will all have big power

.................................................. ........................................Yeah, thats allways the way to go ,+ my intent was not to question his knowledge, Sure you can buy a good boat and get alot of rides before you have to get your hands dirty.,it doesn`t get any better than that . Me on the other hand , who has boating as a sickness without health insurance , i have to buy a fixer upper, i have to stay within my means , , would you believe about 15 years ago there was a 41 Apache pleasure boat at our yard that sold for $ 25k ,everything there except the motors . , that was a smoking deal. I allways appreciate all the input you guys give . Thanks

Nauti Kitty 10-21-2011 04:13 PM

Cheese
I have a bad case of the very same sickness I was just trying to save a fellow boater some finacial pain.

I keep doing it because its fun and the feeling at the end is a great one Good luck on your search

+1. I have put over 65 hrs on my boat so far this season but some of the most fun had was while riding on other peoples boats. No stress, buy some fuel buy some drinks and have a great time.
