Just my humble opinion.

So in your estimation that hull value is -65,000.....

In theory if someone gave you the hull and a check for 65K you could break even on the project if you sold it for 185K!

No what I am trying to say is that I think the hull is worth $ 7,500 . What I meant was that unless you got the hull for next to nothing you would be much farther ahead buying Tonto or Tatonka . Unless of course money is no object or you are DYI and enjoy a project . Either way still cheaper to buy one of the 2 boats mentioned than to restore RAZZ .

Jupiter to respond to your post # 51 . What I sad was that with a COMPLETE DONOR boat ( with big power, fully rigged with V or VI drives on a trailer) and that hull you would still need &75 to $100k to get it to the condition of Tonto or Tantonka . No one said anything about breaking even . I don't know what math you used to get to a hull value of $65 k ?

He meant the hull value is a negative 65k (-65,000).... forgive him, he tries to be a performance boater but has never owned a real performance and doesn't now. However he will be the first one to chime in and say what something isn't worth despite real world differences and people redoing boats all the time and getting great money for them. Once again proving that asking price and selling price are 2 totally diff numbers, starting high keeps the low ballers away, real people with real money will make offers based on value, usually the sellers know that and will negotiate to the right number. I do however agree with your summation on what the hull right now is worth, and frankly without the race heritage it wouldnt be worth that.

Thanks Offshore , that sheds alot of light on his answer . Kid nice hull but my preference is a six pack boat . I am a pleasure boater and need a little more space than a 3 pack offers and lord knows I'm not affraid of a project .

You mentioned in the post I quoted that it would take 250K to get it in the condition of the 185K boat (meaning it would be worth 185K when finished)

185K sale price - 250K investment = $-65,000......being the value of the hull as a starting point...........(sarcastic point of view)

Come on Rob......you getting soft? I would have expected more vigor in your reply! Plenty of people have had the redo dream and no amount of elbow grease in the world will make the project financially viable even starting with a "zero cost labor estimate." To me the biggest disappointment is boats like these that were actually running examples, only to end up like this. This boat should be valued like an insurance company would value it.......scrap.

I have seen the thread on your new motors, I hope that comes out as nice as it looks so far!

No I'm not soft, just no time for it, and thanks... there is a story behind why razz is in this condition, its just not mine to tell. Take mine for example, even though i don't owe much on it, with all the upgrades I am doing the sum of the parts is worth more than the boat. and you're correct in the cost of the parts, however the big killer on this one would be man hours of labor, especially if you have to pay someone like i do because my business demands me to run it, then even if one was to do it in their spare time how many years would it take assuming the person has a 40hr a week job. good strong horsepower can be attained at reasonable prices, but its the little things, like on mine having to hook up strainers for the inter-coolers, its rarely ever a plug and play. my 20 has taken 6 years of mine and Daves time doing it between jobs.

Jupiter the short answer is you are right that hull isn't really worth much .
I was initially interested as I thought about using my flat deck as the donor boat , but as a wise man once told me when you find yourself in a hole stop digging .
Cheers RG .
