Nort in my humblest tone!!
I really do not have/never had a problem taking a Idea straight to the winners circle.. Maybe luck ! Or could be I understand what is happening on the dark side of the Boat better than some.. However I do have a problem with Opinions without basis.. My Statement about the T-4 Apache I will stand behind,May I make a suggestion to you also;wait a little while longer and see.. simple !! Look I came into this very recently.. Straightned the 41 Apache Plug Dead true that was well!! I guess like a prune..Building a One Off the T-4 and got the Deck about finished to my standards.. Along with Material being flown in from the Isle of Wight Training a crew.and laying ground-work for Production. My Best Regards.. |
Jack: One of our Suppliers SP systems (Epoxy and Core) is there also .. really great people to deal with.. I can't say enough good about them..
|
Are you using core cell throughout or something different in the stringers and transom?
Which size core cell in the bottom? What are your thoughts on divinicell or Penske board? |
Show photos of the layup if you could.
I am most interested in these newer materials and where you are using them. When bagging which areas are bagged seperately and which ones together? Do you save on the amount of resin used when using the epoxy and if so how much are you estimating for the hull and how much in the deck? |
rbr
I use the CoreCell for the same reason I used to use the Airex It has the Ability to take punishment without failure.. The Bottom Is Based on 2" of 600 Corecell but it has buildups and in some areas will be around 4" Example the Chine disappears. Remember Panel width is the evil one and needs watched in this case.. Example .The engine bearer's sit on wide Fillets so the unsupported span is less than 24" But I will still add a center line stiffener. in each bay to reduce the open span to around 11" which would support a concrete truck driving over it. The One Off is a triple bag job.. Outside Skin, inside additional coring and then the inside Glass. The Hull Shell,Transom ,Deck are all CoreCell for the above reason..and Bagged at once. Try to maintain a @ A 65-35 Filament to resin ratio or better.and a Post cure. Remember as the stack is compressed (vacuum)the excess epoxy is lost in the breather,So there is not much savings there. also coming off the core the face cells are open even though the material is closed cell and around a 1.5 ounce allowance per SQ foot for that is required. There are a lot of other materials out there but where a boat is concerned that will be pushed chose things that follow Hook's Law and Young's Modulus and such It has allowed me to get real creative with the Cats. I will Post more photos on a Thread in the General section I have started. |
