Forward Bilge pump?
Anybody know what this bilge pump is for? It is located behind the cabin step on a 96 .38 Special. It is enclosed in a plactic container and has a screen on the inlet.

Re: Forward Bilge pump?
Its to help keep your boat from sinking if you were to take on enough water quickly(giant wave etc). My 272 baja has one in cabin under step too. There is a hole that lets water run from front of boat back to the bilge under the gas tank on these boats too,it would be a rare circumstance that your cabin would get flooded but hey,the extra pump is good to have,Smitty

Re: Forward Bilge pump?
Thanks for the reply articfriends. My bilge pump is in a sealed plastic box that has a 1"intake hose and a 1/2" out from the pump. It has a float also in the box. I've tried to Trace the 1" hose and it goes forward but I don't know where. There are no holes in the box to let water in. When I found this pump by accident it was full of water the pump was not working.
I'm puzzled
