He is turning a 30 picht lab finished Bravo 1 at 4900 RPM -
80 MPH
So are You shure your engine is 675 HP or your prop is really 28 pitch ?
Please keep in mind that 28 is not always 28 on different type of props.
A mercury maximus 28 is comparable to a bravo 1 32 pitch !
Your friend must have the fastest 272 hull ever built ,lightened, with bottom work,a shortie outdrive and extension box running in saltwater at sea level on 5 gallons of gas with a 30 mph tailwind OR he needs to buy a gps,SmittyOriginally Posted by 496power

Kennyo, myself and several others that i have talked woth in great detail have broke the 80 mph mark with our 272's BUTit took a little bit more than 585hp Originally Posted by MillerLite88

.650hp-i went 76 mph w/26 pitch in salt water
630hp/700 ft lbs torque(thru 80% of power band) I went 75 mph
700 hp I went 79 mph w/28 pitch merc
750 hp (approx) I went 85 mph w/30 pitch labbed
944hp/962 ft lbs torque I am currently running 92 mph (light load-32 labbed) full tank gas/4 big dudes on board-89 mph w/30 pitch labbed
If someone is running 80 mph ON GPS w/a 272 w/585 hp/600 ft lbs torque I'd love to hear about there hull mods/set-up because it sure as hell isn't the motor thats getting it there,Smitty

Ray @ Raylar
Sounds like a great, reliable package. These blower motors are fun BUT really if your not mechanically inclined I couldn't see the average boater being able to keep a blower motor in one piece. A N/A motor package that can run 400-600 hours without constant maintenance would be the cats ass for the average guy, keep up the good work,SmittyOriginally Posted by Raylar
Results on three seperate calibrated dyno's have been the same each time, plus 100Hp and plus 125 ft/lbs (585 ft/lbs)of torque at 4000rpms with 525ft/lbs torque at 2200rpms and 535ft/lbs of torque at 5000rpms on the Raylar BCK103 kit. A Whipple will give you more if two things happen. First ,if you can get one and second if you can make the stock 496 last on pump gas only with any supercharger.Ray @ Raylar

Was it gps,did he have a exstension box or imco/sportmaster lower? The reason I ask is me and all the other 272 owners that I have talked with have had to make 700 plus hp/700 plus ft lns of tq to break 80 mph (on gps). 585 hp/600 ft lbs of tq only gets a 272 to about 72-74 mph (on gps),propped perfect w/no fuel. Now if your talking speedometer reading I can believe it because my speedo when it worked read about 80 when I was going 74 mph,SmittyOriginally Posted by 496power

some new GPS results for the 25 outlaw
5 Persons on board and full fuel 4900 RPM - 74 MPH on GPS
but last try we made 5000 RPM - so I think 75 - 76 MPH is possible - thats a gain of 10 MPH for the Raylar kit
@ 272 owners - I am in contact with the swedish 496 owner - hope to answer your questions soon
Best regards
