25 Outlaw - 496 HO - Raylar upgrade
Yesterday we finished the installation of a RAYLAR BCK103 Kit (525 HP)in a 2004 BAJA 25 Outlaw with Mercury 496 HO
With the stock engine the Boat ran best 66 MPH at 5000 RPM with a 24 Bravo 1 prop.
first test with the kit installed changed prop to 28 Bravo 1- full fuel - rainy wheather conditions - 5000 RPM with the new big 28 inch prop at the first try - GPS was not working - so no speed numbers for today
will soon post exact speed results
more information you find here

I know that the kit says that it has 525 hp with the kit but what did it dyno at and what kind of torque increase is there? I think its a lot of money to spend, you can get a whipple for the same type of money.

You can't make more hp without making more torque and vice versa when you keep the operating rpm similar.

Results on three seperate calibrated dyno's have been the same each time, plus 100Hp and plus 125 ft/lbs (585 ft/lbs)of torque at 4000rpms with 525ft/lbs torque at 2200rpms and 535ft/lbs of torque at 5000rpms on the Raylar BCK103 kit. A Whipple will give you more if two things happen. First ,if you can get one and second if you can make the stock 496 last on pump gas only with any supercharger.

During test we drove side by side to a 20outlow which was going WOT while we were only going 4000 RPM
the baja 20 run 60 MPH on GPS and 63 on Speedo so thats our speed at 4000 RPM - but we made easy 5000 RPM with the 28 pitch bravo 1 lab finished prop
Wheather was just to bad the last few days to make some more trials . I will post exact speeds as soon as possible
THE ONLY MAGIC here is that you get 525 HP and lots of torque for a lot less money then from Mercury Racing.
Some other results:
Formula 419 SR1 - non stepped hull - 15000 pounds - antifouling paint - top speed in sweat water with stock Triple 496 HO 70 MPH at 5100 RPM with 26 lab finished Bravo 1 - Top speed with Triple RAYLAR 525 and 230 gal. of fuel onboard : 78,8 MPH at 5000 RPM with 30 pitch lab finished Bravo 1 props . Boat planes on any two of three engines without tabs . This is just because of these unbelieveble low end torque- also the reason why it is better to use a bigger prop and turn 5000 than a smaller at higher RPM
Best regards

80 MPH
So are You shure your engine is 675 HP or your prop is really 28 pitch ?
Please keep in mind that 28 is not always 28 on different type of props.
A mercury maximus 28 is comparable to a bravo 1 32 pitch !
