my guess, as I don't own one would be 14-16%. But what do I know??? :D
And to hi-jack your thread how about the Lake Travis Run?? Baja only??

Mine is terrible in my opinion at 18.7%.

I actually went up with the props I ran last year and was talking with Tom at Hydromotive yesterday and he said that 16-18% was not that bad for a true deep vee. He also said that people focus too much on prop slip.

We are working on the hull a little this year and taking the A/C intake off that I know if costing me a lot.

I'm going to also try out a new pair of Hydromotive P5X and see what happens.

What are you getting for numbers?

Mine's not exactly a 36, but I thought it would be fun to post...
I have a 370 Force. Weighing in around 10,000# (including the generator, hot water tank, TV, Microwave, Coffee pot, etc...)
454's at Approx. 525hp
Offshore Performance 23 P 14 1/4" diameter
1.5 Gear ration
5100 RPM at WOT
Theoretical speed is 74 MPH, actual is 61 MPH
Prop slip 18%

Yes it is a baja only. the ski dock puts in on, which is the local baja dealer.

I seem to be in the 15-16% range. let me know how the 5 blades work.

I bought a pair of 26p bravo 1's from Baja36ft that have been labbed by throttle up. I tried them, but spun the hub while i was out. I hit 71mph before i spun it, with 6 people and 3/4 tank of gas.

Im getting the heads ported and milled along with a valve job and cometic head gaskets. Im hoping to hit 74, just running some slip numbers to see if it was possible.

71MPH WITH 6 PEOPLE AND 3/4 TANK OF FUEL IS PRETTY
GOOD WITH MY 36 I DID 74.8 BEFORE MOTOR WORK.
I USE 27 OR 28 PITCH HYDROMOTIVE'S NOW AND DOING
77 TO 80 DEPENDING ON LOAD AND CONDITIONS.
SORRY TO HERE ABOUT THE HUB.DID YOU TRY SPINNING THEM IN?

dont worry about the hub. i didnt even think to check em. They are spinning in now. I would be happy with 74 with a light load and 2 people. I think thats doable.

Spinning In

Re: Anyone with a 36 calculate your prop slip?

I spin them "in" on my 33.

They were "in" when I got it , I was
set on changing it , we took it out
and tested it both ways, lost 1 mph "out".

Didn't have the unusual handling issues
that my 29 did when running "in", so,
I left them "in". ( the 33 seems better balanced)

It's still a pig around the dock though.

Hydro's Are Always Alittle Faster!!! As Long As The Boat Likes Them.

Ive got a set of Hydro QIV's coming, 26p. Ill give those a try and see which one works better.

Just Remember That A 26 Hydro Is Not The Same As A 26 Bravo The Hydro Is A Bigger Prop (thats What Throttle-up Tell Me)

Hopefully with the HP increase, it will spin the 26 hydros at 5500.

That is a VERY low slip number. I would play with props some and even though slip might increase, I think you could also increase the top end speed. :D

top speed was better with hydro's but the rev4 prop gets it up faster, slower planning speed, and the boat does not porpoise at all now at any speed. BBlades has the props now and is going to add some cup, so the speed will go up some without taking the rest away.

I run mine out, I tried them in but it did not handle as well, I tried every prop I could..mirage, bravo1, hydro's...then I tried the revolution 4's because BBlades said they worked well on baja's.. None of the other props even compare to these! The boat feels like it's 10' longer and 5k heavier. The ride is unbelievable! I was ready to sell it and go bigger to get a softer ride(which I did not want to do) until I tried the rev4. I'm not looking for the highest top end, in Lake Michigan it get quite rough, top speed doesnt do any good if its pounding you to death..I can outrun most when its rough because of the way it rides now. I wouldnt change a thing on it now!

Re: Anyone with a 36 calculate your prop slip?

I talked with throttle up and they said my prop slip was 13%. I told them i was using the go-fast website to calculate it, and they said you have to calculate a bravo 1 26p as a 25p. They said they are actually a pitch lower than stamped ??? they also said slip numbers on a deep v with a 4 blade should be 11-14%.

sounds good. ive almost got the fine tuning done, and ill really concentrate on props. I tried hydromotive Qiv's this weekend. Much better slip #'s but lost 500 rpms. Felt like they slipped to about 40mph too.

Stan,

Got a question for you and dock. im spinning my 26's at 5500 and still not getting what you too got for speed stock. Im confused how im spinning 150 rpms over the rev limiter on a stock 500, but still not as fast. what props were you running stock?

baja36ft 02-07-2006 04:22 PM

Re: Anyone with a 36 calculate your prop slip?

Stock Was 26 Bravo I Think Dock Had The Same (but He Can Tell You) Mine Were Stock Not Labbed What Year Is Your Boat? My And Dock's X Are The Same That Might Have Some Thing To Do With The Speed.
Make Sure That Your Tack Is Right Some Times They
Are Off .JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE SPINNING HIGHER RPM DON'T MEAN YOU ARE STILL MAKING POWER WITH THAT CAM IT MIGHT BE DONE AT 5200.
