Default Clarion Remote??

I have a 99 342 with a Clarion CD player with the remote back on the swim deck. Is this remote compatible with other Clarion head units? The head unit is trash and I am also looking for one with an AUX in to hook up my Sirius radio. Figured if I can keep the same remote it would cut the cost a bit.

If your remote is oval-shaped with a red power button and an LCD readout, it should work with the Clarion XMD3. That's the head unit I have and that's the shape remote I have. I believe the remote uses a six-pin wire. The XMD3's got AUX inputs that I use for my Ipod. I also have Sirius installed directly to it - it's satellite compatible...

The unit is good, but overly complicated in my opinion. You can probably find a used one on E-Bay, as well as a remote.

The newer Clarions (CMD4) use the round remotes (like the CMRC1-SB). Probably a much better unit than the XMD3...Retail is $349 according to Crutchfield...

My remote is round and all white. I wonder if all of the Clarion remotes have the same connector.

some of the remote 6 pins do not have all 6 wires in cable and they will not suport some of the new head units & remotes it was a prod. date thing not a part # change if your new remote or radio does not fully work this could drive you nuts as the pins all line up and clarion only has on cable

I just picked up a new CMD4 unit for $250 so I will see if it works with my remote. If not I guess I will get a new remote. I like how the new remotes have the LCD Display in them. That will be a plus if I have to get a new one.
