Give us an update again on what you are doing to the engines, etc.

Thanks
Dock

I added Whipples, did a Tyler Crockett MPI MAG HP upgrade, added aluminum heads, ground the p!ss out of the manifold runners (-.600) Changed the firing order to to the 496 firing order.
Out back, I put on 12" IMCO extension boxes, IMCO extreme drives with 3" shorties.
Tyler says I'll be at 650 a side @ 5lbs of boost & I've got pullies to push her up to 750:evilb: but I don't know that I'll run them except for special occasions. That high octane sh!t is high dollar!

Christian, I might hit ElDorado? Tim is letting me use his place to stab the motors. Hope to so that Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

ckentling 04-05-2007 02:06 PM

Let me know if you need help. I am finishing the paint on the PQ this weekend. MY slip is empty at Eldo if you need a place to work etc just drop the lift and have at it.

jryan26 04-05-2007 10:00 PM

Jason
If you need a designated beer drinker, let me know. I will be happy to freeze my azz off with you at 82mph. :D

JasonSmith 04-06-2007 01:05 AM

Motors are done & going in today! Of course I'm posting this @ 1:00 a.m. CDT. I'm pretty much f*cking tired of working on this boat!
Christian, thanks for the offer. I may take you up on that.
jryan....I don't know what to say about you? I like your style!

Ironmanwb 04-06-2007 08:12 AM

Ok its 9:00 am ET. How fast is it ? :D :D :drink:

JasonSmith 04-07-2007 11:06 AM

They are in, but I've got to do some aluminum welding to make other stuff fit the right way. It'll be next week sometime.

Ironmanwb 04-12-2007 10:28 AM

Are you done yet ? WTF this has taken way too long. You should have set 29 ol speed records by now.
:chick:

Just bustin your chops . How's it going?

JasonSmith 04-13-2007 01:04 AM

I'd like to say it is going good, but it sure is not! I've had to fabricate way too many parts to count. Partly because I'm anal about my stuff looking right & partly because there just ain't any other way to make it work than to make my own parts. Oh & tools.
Tonight I worked on ligning up the drives to the couplers. One motor went fantastic, one I just gave up on tonight. Had to make 2 wrenches to fit the motor mount nuts. Snap-On will watrranty sut up & welded on 1 1/16 & 1 1/8 wrenches. Right?
I'm planning on firing the motors today. Just have to figure out how to make the throttle linkages work.

Ironmanwb 04-13-2007 08:22 AM

What fun would it be if it went easy?

Keep us updated and remeber to post some pics of the tools you had to make.

liquid asset 04-14-2007 11:13 AM

We're doing Gimbal bearings, bellows, and some other stuff tomorrow and prob dropping in motors next week and weekend, email me about those drives, and how much $$$$ they were, they are sick

JasonSmith 04-15-2007 01:26 AM

It gets wet Sunday! I'll report back soon! Wish me luck! I'm nervous it won't even get on plane!

Jason if your going to have a chase boat get some video. Those drives look wicked! Whats the reason for the 496 firing order on 454's? I'd really like to do some cam, exhaust and head work to my motors. I just can't find the time.

bowtye8 04-15-2007 06:58 AM

Jason, Looks great..Sounds mean as hell.
Keep us posted.....We're all waiting:drink:

socalstone 04-15-2007 04:01 PM

Sounds great. You'll be posting more video tonight I hope?

JasonSmith 04-15-2007 08:49 PM

Well, got some bugs to work out. Had a fuel pump take a dump tonight. Got to get the idle right & figure out why the engines go into guardian mode.
But it does get on plane & I have to idle on one motor or the sob almost gets on plane. Gotta love them 5 blades!

kennyo 04-16-2007 09:00 AM

Man, you've got some serious hardware hanging off that boat!

baywatch 04-16-2007 09:04 AM

That thing is gonna be fun to park . If I see ya coming up to the docks I will remember to run over to give you a hand.

It ain't nothing but a hill for a high stepper like me!:drink:
It really wans't bad at all. When it was running it was easier than with my 4 blades on the stock drives.

Looking great Jason.

Good luck dialing her in and keep us posted.

"YOU ARE DA MAN"!

jryan26 04-16-2007 12:42 PM

What fuel pumps are you running? Holler if you need a loaner.

JasonSmith 04-16-2007 08:18 PM

Thanks Dock - I sent the computers back to Tyler today to look at the program. They show a code "51" which is a "batchsum error"
jryan26 - I'm using SX pumps. I'm thinking I'll carry a spare. You have the hookup?

I do have to say that I'm a little nervous about making the Lake Travis run. I'm gonna try, but it is all up to the computer Gods right now. Cross your fingers for me. I have several people who are expecting me to show. Family & friends most importantly, not to mention the non-refundable deposit & the aggrivation of my mother-f*cking engines not working!
I need beer!!!!!

Ironmanwb 04-17-2007 01:40 PM

That looks and sounds mean........can't wait to hear the number its putting up.

Ironmanwb 05-01-2007 11:23 AM

Ok is everything back together again?

I am curious to see what #'s you are going to put up once you have oil in your drives...........:evilb:

Hope all is well I think this is a cool project and the hardware looks killer.

JasonSmith 05-01-2007 05:54 PM

Oil in the drive? I thought they were dry sump drives?? Just kidding!
Parts will be here Wednesday & it will be back togather tomorrow night.
I'm going to try some different propellers & adjust the fuel pressure settings.
Hopefully everything will work correctly & then I can tackle the idleing problem. Hopefully my software for the computers will be here this week so I can play with them.
I'll keep you posted.

JasonSmith 05-13-2007 04:20 PM

Update - I ran the boat yesterday with my new "did it myself" computer tune & it ran 86 MPH @ 5600 rpm against the rev-limiters on 26" bravo 1s.

Quinlan 05-14-2007 05:50 AM

Nice Jason!! Now I guess some new Blades are on order??
Quinlan.

BajaRunner 05-14-2007 07:36 AM

time for 28's :evilb: :evilb:

JasonSmith 05-14-2007 07:42 AM

Yup, I'm looking for some 28's. 4 & 5 blade. Anyone got any they want to lend? I pay freight both ways - overnight.

liquid asset 05-14-2007 11:03 AM

or 30's

jryan26 05-14-2007 06:36 PM

I got 29 hydros?

JasonSmith 05-14-2007 09:49 PM

Are the 29's 4 or 5 blade?

jryan26 05-14-2007 10:07 PM

4's

JasonSmith 05-14-2007 11:05 PM

I have some 28 Bravo 1's comming. If they don't work, I might want to try the 29 Hydros.

Smitty 05-15-2007 07:34 AM

Jason,
If you have the time drag that thing out to see Tyler or pay him to come to you and set it up on the water. He will get it perfect. It has to be done on the water as you drive it for it to be right. Trust me from my own experience.

Smitty
