In all honesty, I can't believe Tyler sent me the program he did. I'm VERY dissapointed in the tune he sent me. It wouldn't even idle. When we cracked the code & got into the computer it looked like a 3 year old's art project. Fuel curves were all over the board along with the spark advance & about every other paramater.
I now have the ability to tune the MEFI3 computer & am doing so now. I have a motor man who knows what he is doing & we are working with a dyno facility in Hennesey, Oklahoma. |
Let me know on the hydros...I'll be in that chit hole you call a home town on Wed or Thurs of this week....:D
|
Bring them! I'm going to go to Eldorado Wed.

Jason
From my personal experience you can set them perfect on the dyno and they will run very different IN the boat. I dyno'ed my motors with Tyler and they were perfect. Put them in the boat and the fuel was all wrong. We put wideband oxygen sensors in the CMI's and went out and reset the fuel at 200 rpm intervals. Man what a difference. Good Luck !!! Make sure to watch your fuel pressure at max rpm/boost. |
I'm running 7lbs of boost @ 45psi of fuel all on the stock injectors.
|
hey guys this all sounds real interesting
|
I think I know who tunertech is? Motorman Ben I think?
|
I'll be there tomorrow. If I miss you I will leave them at my brothers house maple/tyler.

Just have it doing 90 by memorial so i can see what its like to control something that fast. :D |

When i had mine dyno'd they were done in the boat, hatch closed with full wet exhaust and all accessories. I dont know if its much different, but i know thats the way i run em. |

Engine compartment heat, air flow in the engine compartment, wet headers etc.

And that was probably with only one engine running when you dyno'ed it. Crank up it's next door neighbor, let it start eminating heat and consuming more engine compartment air and the numbers go down more. I've seen more than one boat engine dyno good #'s, then once it's in the boat, it doesn't produce the gains expected. |

Just trying to help a fellow Baja Brother. I am just relating my actual experiences to you. You don't want to believe me that's fine. I just guess you want to have a summer of headaches ****in' with the motors then. Good Luck |
Over 90
Bring your GPS or Radar gun and I will be glad to show anyone interested speeds over 90 out of a 1997 29 outlaw.

I just guess you want to have a summer of headaches ****in' with the motors then. Good Luck I now have access to tuning software & have a guy who has my boat running 30 gallons of fuel less per hour, per engine & idling properly, not to mention faster than it would have done otherwise. So my summer of trouble isn't even going to start because we are done tuning the engines, for the most part and now are on to tuning the drive set-up & selecting propellers. BTW, my boat ran 89 MPH @ 5400 rpm on stock 28" bravo 1 propellers & a full load of fuel. So, I'm not knocking what you said, I'm just trying to make sence of why a dyno tune would be different than a boat tune on the bottom end. |

Jason,I can't wait to hear your final numbers. I'm at a loss as to what went on with your ecu's with tyler but I'm glad you have made progress in the right direction. I'm wondering what it would be like to go 90 plus in a Baja :evilb: ,Smitty
PS-your going to have fun (like I do) running all the "big name" fast boats that are used to whipping up on us Baja owners:D ,wait until you got a 85 mph fountain along side and he's maxed out, trimmed out etc. Let him crawl away like he's beating you by 1/2 mph while you still have throttle left, then the real fun begins when you nail it and pull away. Any time I race anyone anymore thats questionable I hold my boat wide open until I'm a good 10 or 20 boat lengths in front of them sothere is no question as to who was faster. I have ran into a few 90 plus mph boats also though that I couldn't do this to but not too often, those races are just as good because they can't believe a lowly Baja was hangning with them!!! |
I like to open it up all the way & but keep it trimmed down a bit. When they start to pull away I just keep trimming it up.

Been seeing that one on the classifieds but never noticed it was from around here. Don't think I've ever seen it on the water...

We have the ability to tune my ECMs so we backed the fuel pressure down to 45 & read the sh!t out of the plugs.
It seems to be running great! What are you running again? |
Im have 2 454's with m1 prochargers and intercoolers, inmco drives and 31 labed props

Have you tried adding a little tab to it ? My 33 (thats ran 91 and some change), actually runs a mile an hour faster with the tabs just a tick below neutral. With them up, it's a handfull to handle. It doesn't act like like it's shoving the nose down, but more like it's giving it more of an area to ride on. |
I have tried the tabs down it helps but it still rocks side to side a little. It seems like the futher you go the more it rocks. I guess I will have to find the sweet spot and deal with it.

I set my fuel at 45 for idle & it ramps up to 65 at WOT. You runnign prochargers or Whipples?

we ran 88 first time out not dialed in with 100+ gallons of fuel and loaded with long weekend gear for 4 people, overpropped with hydro 34's @ 4700, felt great at that speed, hydro's felt good, just helping a buddy with this project, its been a long winter
