Default 29 Outlaw

I’m currently shopping around and am looking at a 99 29’ Outlaw with a single 454 (385 H.P.)

The boat itself is in great condition; however I’m afraid of it being under powered and worried about it’s maneuverability with only a single.

Anybody’s opinion’s or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Craig

There was a 500 efi 29 single that ran around here years ago,,, ended up procharging the boat to get it to go anywhere.

If I had to throw out a number, id say 55 mph.

I've got the same boat, only with twin 454 mags. IMO, that boat would be underpowered with only one motor, not to mention maneuverability....

I had a friend with a single 502 and it would only run low 50's. There area quite a few single 29's at LOTO because of the ride.

Twins are the only way to go.

I had SST, Kplane, 454 Mag single 29, went down to Georgia and picked it up. We boat LOTO and the ride was great. All the twin engine 29 guys say the single 29 rides better at LOTO than the twin. It's no poker/fun run boat. Ours ran 53 on GPS and was a great boat for what we wanted at the time. The room in the cabin, ride and $$$. Just depends on what your looking for.

Parking was only an issue a few times when the wind was very high and I would of had the same problems if it was a twin.

We picked the boat up with the idea of re-selling it and ran into someone looking for one.

I guess you need to be more specific on what your going to be using it for. Are you looking at it just because it it cheaper than a twin? Or would you really just want 1 motor for gas reasons?

My brothers 29 Outlaw (twin 454s) is for sale. Its a 2000, and he bought it brand new. Its located in Bucyrus, Ohio. If your interested, I can get you details. He has worked for Baja for 23 years, and has taken great care of the boat.
