I'm confused

staggering the motor will raise the X The CG is to far forward because of large cockpit, Baja has the longest cockpit of all performance boats 39 cig sstag. 700,s runs 100 to 103 fountains is even faster they all use the same mat. weights are with in 1000 lbs/1500 Baja runs 85, 86 stepps my give the the other boats about 7 mph not 18 to 20 mph I think it is all about the cg in the baja JUST MY OPINION after owning a 25 ol 302 and my 33 I could go on and on ? does your boat loose 18 mph with 5 adults I would guess about 4mph

Im not real sure of the speed ,spiderman ran in upper 90,s with 525s all you guys that tweeked the sh t out of you Bajas and do alot of pokerruns. Graduated to somthing better for instance my engines make 810 hp I run 98/100 Ive only saw 100 three times . My power in 42 Fountain would run 110/112 mph and thats a bigger boat ,so 40 pr lookes great but 85 mph is not even in the ball park

I have to agree. I know that the 40 is a wave crusher and all that but I have a feeling a 42 beak boat with the same power would run with it in any water and crush it on calmer water.
I would love to see the 399 go into production. If they spent the same time with that hull as they have with the 30, 35 and 40ol I bet the can crack the 100 mph mark with mild power.

Skater did come to Baja for the mold because Baja has from what I understand a state of the art CNC machine for cutting the plug for the mold. They wanted a very precision hull which is what you would expect from builder like Skater.
Now I have heard many different stories as to how the mold belongs to Baja but as Bobby stated yes it is at the Baja plant and yes several at Baja would love to build a new Baja 39 stepped hull. However their dilemma is how to you go from always offering a "Tru Vee" which is their trademark.
I made the following suggestion for what it is worth:
Market the stepped hull series as the all new Baja "Poker Run Series Boats".
I.E.: Islander / Performance / Outlaw / Poker Run Series
Keep all the ads the same for the true vee and have a different high performance promotion for the stepped.
Certify each dealer that wants to be a "High Performance" dealer and give a required attend Tres Martin Driving School course with each boat sold.
Just my opinion______________________________________________
Now is the 39 stepped hull a good boat?
Yes in my opinion it is. We watched it race at Lake St. Clair and we ran with it at the Lake Cumberland Poker Run.
It did run in the mid 90's with 525's but keep in mind that it is a light no frills race boat. Add 2000 + pounds and how fast will it be? Probably not over 85. But with 700's who knows?
If I remember right I heard that the boat was a bat out of hell in a straight line but a real hand full in the turns.
Why are they not selling? I personally think Skater priced it too high. If you go over to the Lake Cumberland website you can see a couple that have been on the market a pretty long while and you will see the resemblance to Baja especially in the cockpit and helm.
The whole boating industry owes Baja a huge thank you for bringing so many of us into the performance boat world but unless Baja does something like this they will continue to loose repeat customers to those that are looking at moving into other brands for increased performance.
As for a 42 Fountain that was the first twin engine boat I every drove and I have a lot of respect for what Fountain has done in recent years with their hulls, speeds and especially the interior and dash upgrades. However for a comparision the 2001 that a buddy owned with 850 blower motors and #6 drives never ran over 105 MPH. Man have they got faster in the last few years.
Here are a few pictures of Spiderman.
