What would you offer on a New '07 Baja 277 Islander?

Here's a link...

Salesman has asked me to present an offer. It's a leftover '07 model. It's got a midnight blue hull with red, yellow, and gray riptide graphics. It has the 496HO and W-shaped seats. More or less fully loaded. I'm still not quite sold on the seats but if the price is right, I'm all over it. I kinda wish that they just made the hull black instead of midnight blue.

Anyways, what would you offer for boat and trailer? I was thinking $65K + tax.

FYI... my wife is sold on the bow rider idea. If she's happy, I'm happy. I'm just glad I'm in the performance boat category with a 496HO. Won't be doing any offshore running so the open bow shouldn't present a problem.

$65000 is way below what they have in that boat. I would imagine that they will not be able to make that work. You never know I guess

Do you think it's too low to even start from?

I sold my last 4 boats for way below what i had in them too.

I was always told by dealers that the selling season ends in July. If this is the 2nd summer they own it, I don't see the value going up next spring. If oil gets to 170 a barrel the low end boat market will be shot if it already isn't.

Sometimes you need to clear it out. Then again Charleen can hold em 4 or 5 years and still be in business so who knows.

I offered a broker $95K for a boat a few months ago, they said firm $136K. Got an email a few weeks ago, they want to take $95K for it, problem is times have changed since spring and now it's not going to bring $95K, at least not from me.

I would say make the offer and see what happens. The worst they can say is no and counter offer.

I told a couple dealers what I purchased my 25 Outlaw for and they all said no way I got that deal. All it takes is the right circumstances for a deal to happen. AB is a big dealer and they are sitting on an almost two season old boat in a bad market. The 277 is a very nice boat but Islanders don't jump off the lot. They may take a skinny deal or a small looser to move it.

Like I said earlier, you never know. Just wanted you to know where the sat on the 277.

Some markets are better/worse than others. Put the ball in their court!

I know a few dealers that would strongly disagree with that statement.

Which part? That is is a nice boat or the fact theyjump off the lot?

I can tell you that every Islander our dealer ever had sat and sat until they finally gave it away as a left over. As with any market, some models sell stronger than others.
